Anyone else having an issue with "Seatbelt Warning" coming from a seat in the Mach-E that is unoccupied? This happens to me frequently when I drive my kids to school in the morning, the kids gets out at school (and there is nothing in the seats, no person, no bags, no nothing in case anyone wants to ask). I start to return home, and the seatbelt warning comes on and stays on. It only happens from the back seat, not the front passenger seat.

I got the same when the Ford Engineer sat in the back and the dealer tech was in front during a test drive. The FE was the first rear passenger since owning the MME. It went away after a while, but not sure if I stopped and started the MME again to clear it. I showed them but they did't make much of it and they were not there to look at issue rather a different one.

I can confirm something is off with it and it was also the right rear passenger for me.

Yes - I reported this a few weeks ago (can't find the thread at the moment). Seems to happen only when transporting kids in the back seat - I've never seen it with adults.
With 2 kids in the back seated next to the doors, I've also had it report that the center back was occupied and unbuckled.
It's definitely flaky.

You can easily make it happen by having someone in the back seat plug their seatbelt into the wrong latch (e.g. if they are sitting on the side where the two latches are side by side plug their belt into the center position latch instead of the outside position--confuses the heck out of the car).

We have had this in the first "ride along" sessions(late 2020), nobody in the back and continious warnings, finally clipping the seat belts empty...you can see it also in several YouTube first drives video's. A bit concerning that it's not resolved by now.

I would need more data to be positive, but by the sounds of it I don't think there is anything to resolve. I highly doubt the MME has passenger presence sensors in the rear seats, so the only way it thinks there is someone there is a buckled seatbelt. On each key cycle, if it sees a buckled belt it says 'ok I have a passenger in that seat'. As soon as the belt is unbuckled the warning pops up, which can be cleared by pressing the 'ok' button. The car has no way to tell if the buckle was inadvertently released, or the passenger left the vehicle, so it gives the warning.
If the warning persists after being acknowledged, then it sounds like we have a problem.

I had several rides, in one we had one passenger but the warning was from the seatbelt on the other side of the rear bench and only stopped after we clipped that seatbelt. If there are no pressure sensors I am puzzled how that warning occurred.

So far I am extremely happy with the car. Some minor glitches with the infotainment system but nothing crazy. This glitch though I can't for the life of me understand why don't fix it. So if I drop somebody off at a location, the car warns me that the rear seatbelts are not buckled. The thing is though, nobody is sitting there anymore. I understand it most likely works with the belt buckle no longer being attached and since the car was never turned off it goes by last state but there is no rear occupant sensors so it doesn't understand that nobody is there anymore. So get rid of the rear seatbelt buckle detection. I understand how and why it occurs but it doesn't work properly.

I had this a couple of days ago

If you buckle the middle seat up even though the passenger is either side of it, does that stop the error message?

I would have to check. Yesterday I had a passenger in the middle and left hand side. When they left the car, I got the warning for both seating positions. The time before that I had a passenger on the left side only and the message appeared when they left the car for the left seat position only. So its definitely recognizing the occupants by the seatbelt buckle.
What I think it does it recognizes that the buckle was done up once and it expects it to stay in that state until the car is turned off. If you put the car in park it's not enough to clear the state so it expects the buckle to still be attached.

The car will keep the warning up until you press OK on the steering wheel. Just acknowledge and move on. Pretty simple.
