This week we took a trip from Seattle to the Columbia Gorge Scenic area. This involved driving south to Portland, OR then east on I-84 and a crossing on the Bridge of the Gods over the Columbia river back into Washington just outside of Stevenson WA where the family rented a beautiful VRBO home overlooking the river and lake Bonniville.
The route planner did not show any charging nearby and the trip could have been done on a single full charge. However we would arrive with about 15% SOC. So we stopped to charge in Longview WA at the Three Rivers Mall EA site.
and a short stop for a family meet up near the Portland airport where we added a few more miles while eating lunch.
Upon arriving at the house we had 60% SOC. and there were obviously 110V outlets near the parking areas. Of note there was a box in the garage labeled Car Charger but no socket installed. I suppose if I had contacted the owner ahead of time they probably would have installed one. In any case we plugged in and got back to 80% overnight.
One annoying aspect of all the route planners is none show available charging sites at the destination automatically. Once there I did a search and found an EA site 13 miles up the river in Hood River OR. This could have made one of our stops in needed.
Sunset on Columbia River Gorge.
