41 minutes from 10% to 80%. Possible they started from 5% but hard to tell based on this info. @OutofSpecKyle has definitely got us wondering.
I’ll tell you all about the charging in mid December!

It sure looks good but we don’t know if they started at 9% (or 4%) or how linear/flat the curve is or if that estimated time is accurate or just a standard number based off a fixed preprogrammed average number. We know it hits 150kW, but we know nothing about the quality of the grid at that charging station. I’m looking forward to the review. I doubt anyone else took a FE to a charger.

@OutofSpecKyle:

Nice discussion of the Mustang Mach E on the last InsideEVs video. However, y'all discussed the ID.4 getting a lot more range with only 2 kWh larger battery than the Mach E select Standard Range. I believe the ID.4 has 9 kWh more usable space.

The usable battery capacity of the Standard Range Mach E is only 68 kWh. For the ID.4 it is 77. That's a difference of 9 kWh, not 2. So if you compare the two cars, the Mach E gets 230 miles/68 kWh = 3.38 mi/kWh, while the ID.4 is 250/77 = 3.25 mi/kWh.

Wasn't the extended range battery supposed to get 61 miles of range in 10 minutes of charging (so in that ballpark).
We're pretty sure that was just the PEAK 10 minutes (i.e. early in the charging curve). They continued to say "10-80% in 45 minutes" even when they announced the "61 in 10 minutes" number.

So, that charging screen is quite curious. I assume that's the last charge that was done? I assume 28%/59mi is the current SOC, which means that charge to 80% was sometime previous. In fact, since that charge shows ending Wed 3:32 pm, and current time on the screen shows 3:02, that must have been at least one day before (maybe 4-5 days before, as I think the media days were last Sun-Tue).

If that's correct, then that wouldn't have been Kyle's charge, it would have been the one Ford did days prior. No telling what% they started from. Kyle's charge surely can't be shown until Dec 15.

No you assume incorrectly. That is a current charge session. Have you read the Sync4 manual yet? They have been charging for 11 minutes iirc.

I took that to mean that it was predicting that it would reach 80% SOC at 3:32pm.

So what's 80% charged at 3:32? Is that an estimated target time?

It shows the “plugged in” icon right in the middle of the screen. It looks like a lightning bolt and a plug ?.

Interesting. I wonder how accurate that estimate is?

I'm surprised (and disappointed) that there's no kW power level showing. Perhaps that's on another screen.

Since we don't know the SOC it started at, it's hard to tell much about the whole charge curve. But we can tell a little from that estimate. It's saying 28-80% in 30 minutes (3:02-3:32). That would be 52% of the 88 kWh battery = 46 kWh in 0.5 hours = an avg of 92 kW. That's pretty good. Especially for the portion of the curve after the early 150 kW peak.

But OTOH, being only at 28% after 11 minutes seems lower than expected. Depending on where it started, of course. But even if it started way down at 4%, that's 24% of 88 = 21 kWh in 11 minutes = 115 kW average. I'd have expected closer to 150 for that early part of the curve, if it's on a 150 kW charger. But it was also cold, so that could slow it down too.

That’s the point of the picture. To make us all watch Kyle’s video on the 15th. Or you can watch mine.

Well, sure, by then we'll have tons of info flowing out. Just trying to pick up what we can out of the info before then.
