I've seen a couple of aftermarket kits for something similar on some of the Chinese web sites. Not sure if that's what Ray used.

Cheap and easy mod, I just connected the 59" strip to the brown/blue (+) and black/green (-) wires of the left headlight. But it does make the hood a little harder to shut.

I think anything other than white is illegal in most states (not just CA).

We’ll I have to say this mod is

AMAZING.
adding it to the spring to-do list. Maybe I can set them to do green on startup then change to white so it’s legal while driving.

Looks like the user went directly to fuse box. If you want the behavior to come on during unlocking door sequence, I would encourage installing to headlight. 12v to low beam and black to ground. Now, if you only want it to come on during night time you need to access the orange and green wire.
