Sitting here twiddling my thumbs and had a thought.

So, with little to no new news, I was pondering a question. Look at this quote from Ford regarding the Mach E

" The model will be launched with two battery pack sizes and three power outputs. "

So we know that there are two battery pack sizes shared across the different models. The question is the motors.

1) I believe I am correct in that the motors in the base and premium versions are the same for both the RWD and AWD versions. Is it only software that makes the difference in Torque and Horse power?

2) If the above is true, is it not likely that the GT shares at least part of the same size of motors?

My question is...do all the models share the same motors and power output is regulated by software. If so, could not some aftermarket tuner unlock that "hidden" power by a software tweak. Somebody point out that I am totally wrong so that I stop wondering about this.

  • The rear motor is the same in all models
  • the front motor in non-GT AWD is smaller than the rear
  • the front motor on the gt is purported to be the same as the back motor
  • the ER battery can deliver more current than the SR, thus the difference in output between them
  • software tweaks may help, but I doubt ford will open the system enough
