I’ve known that I was going to hit 10,000 miles some time this week, for a couple weeks now. So, I made an appointment for my 10,000 mile service for today this was my odometer when I parked in the service department:

wait what is the 10,000 mile service?
If you go to the service and support page in the FordPass app, there is a maintenance schedule. Basically, every 10,000 miles the want you to check driveline components for wear, rotate the tires, and check the brakes and cooling systems. If I had a decent shop jack and jack stands, I’d do it myself.

Discount Tire will rotate, and balance, tires for free. When they do so, I look at my brakes. Done.

Do they know how to check the drive train on these? It is new to Ford and I am thinking for warranty Ford will be my best bet for awhile. All good with the service checks?
From the sound of it, they check the half-shaft boots, and tie rod ends. That’s about it.

I see no driveline inspection or cooling system.

Inspect steering linkage, ball joints, suspension and tierod ends.
Inspect wheels and related components for abnormal noise, wear, looseness or drag.

So when Discount Tire has it up, I'll look around.

This makes me wonder if you had to lap around the dealership a few times to hit the number exactly!
I was prepared to… but, hand on a bible, I didn’t detour or deviate at all.

In fact, I actually got worried that it would roll past before I got to park.

I thought everyone got the first two maintenance visits free from ford?

I mentioned on another post about them giving me a maintenance contract for 2 visits that cost $210 but got a $210 rebate from Ford.

This is Ford feeding their dealers. One of the first questions I asked on a Ford forum (when my wife was interested in the Mach E) was would Ford invent a service schedule to feed their dealers and one respondent said "I'm sure they'll think of something." Obviously they have.

Well, if this was any indication, Ford is putting their dealerships on starvation rations. My total bill was $17.32.

I've owned more than 13 new cars in my lifetime. Driven over 1,000,000 miles. In all that time I've never taken any of my cars to the dealer for routine service. And, when I've taken the car to the dealer for warranty service they've never once asked to see my maintenance records or denied warranty service. I think I'll be fine letting Tire Man rotate my tires. With him I'm in and out in less than 5 minutes at no charge.
