Why if my battery is the extended one and it should always give 305 miles of range when I charge 100% it says that I have 298 of range?

It is based off your past driving habits.

The displayed range is often referred to as a GOM or Guess-O-Meter. It isn't exactly accurate. It tries but there will be plenty of variation that determines the actual mileage (driving habits, weather conditions, highway/city, etc.).

If you don't like the number, you can reset the driving history and then it will go to the defaults until you start driving again and it adapts to your habits.

Also, don't charge to 100% on a regular basis. The golden-zone for EV battery health is 20-80% state-of-charge (e.g. charge only up to 80% and drain down to only 20%). Certainly you could do 10-90% and that'd be good ... not quite as good as 20-80, but still good.

But charging to 100% on a daily basis when you don't actually need the full range for the day's use is harder on the battery and cuts into the overall health of the battery pack. Similarly, draining it all the way to 0% is also hard on it.

Do it when you know you'll be doing a trip that needs the range ... just not every night.
