It was a desperate situation needed 14% to get home, I waited 30 mins for you to come back to your car. Left a note and gift for you

this was at 62kw level 3 charger at a dealership that offers free charging.

Edit: I did plug them back in.

Don’t do that. It’s not your car. Plan your trips better.

Was the car sitting there full charged?

this isn’t really a cool move. Free chargers in particular should not really be relied on if you can avoid it. Try to aim for paid locations with more than one charger per location when possible.

Sometimes we don't always get our planning right. It might have been far more windy or otherwise worse for driving conditions, so they needed a bit more charge. Some places have terribly limited options for fast charging. They waited half an hour with no sign of the other car's driver. This isn't ideal, but I get it. 14% charge took only... 5-10 minutes? And the other driver still wasn't back in that time. I get it.

I guess it's one of those charges with cables long enough to service two cars. I thought the plugs are locked?

or how about don’t leave your car parked and unattended at a free charger…. I plugged it back in after I got the range I needed.. it took 13 mins to get the charge I needed. Wrote an apology, and pretty sure they would of never known I did it.

in this part of the state, level 3 chargers are limited, except for Tesla. I don’t have my adapter yet (I did order a 3rd party that hasn’t arrived yet)

Well this took a turn….

Now it’s their fault you unplugged them? Or your second argument is that you could have gotten away with it so it’s ok?

Obviously you know this is pretty controversial or you wouldn’t have left a gift to make up for it. Get your flame suit ready!

You aren’t required to stand by your car when charging. Whether free or paid. People tend to stay longer at free chargers though.

Unless they have gone over a posted time limit or it’s been sitting at 100% for a while, you simply should not be unplugging them. Even if they are full or over the time limit it’s best not to, but I could understand in that case.
