SSM 50213 - 2021 Mustang Mach-E - FordPass App Frunk Button - Failure To Open Message

Some 2021 Mustang Mach-E vehicles that have had a body control module (BCM) update may show the Frunk button on their FordPass app. This button is not currently supported and using it will result in a Failure To Open message. Ford is working on an update to the software to activate this button that is expected via over the air (OTA) in late December of 2021. The software will update automaticallyif Vehicle Connectivity is turned ON. Inform the customer that they can continue to drive the vehicle. Contact the customer in January of 2022 to determine if they received the update. If the customer needs assistance, schedule a follow-upappointment. Monitor OASIS for updates.

Ironically while it works on GT’s, sometimes it doesn’t work and I have to restart the app.

Burying the lede here. This is the first time I've seen a date given for frunk button activation since the initial announcement suggested Q3.

To be fair, other SSMs have come out with timelines for OTAs. They just consistently missed those timelines.

Or when Corporate told me that an OTA would be available at the end of August that would fix my Navigation issue where it doesn't show roads when the screen is in dark mode. 1.7.1 came, and that issue still remains.

Yeah, Ford should probably stop giving time frames. I know people want dates, but giving time frames that are never met isn't better.

I would feel like this is the plan for everyone, why wouldn’t it be?

Think this will be the update that includes BlueCruise? They'll roll it out on Dec 31st for six Mach Es and say "See, we said 2021!" ?

I would feel like this is the plan for everyone, why wouldn’t it be?

Why wouldn’t this be for everyone? 1.7 is a poster child. It’s been months and still not on my car, nor many on this forum.

Yeah, I mean why would they release a feature and not make it available to everyone? I don’t see a reason or technical limitation why they would do that, other than it’s just very slow to rollout.

Someone also posted in that thread they were told it wasn’t even officially rolled out yet. Also the poll shows that as well since majority don’t have it. So hopefully by end of year!
