Are you saying or asking? lol
Definitely an unsure-ask! Lol

Interesting and great point.

The recall PDF lists out the software codes that "fix" the issue:
The updated BECM software (NJ98-14C197-AE, NJ98-14C197-BD)
The updated SOBDMC software (LJ98-14G069-AXG, LJ98-14G069-AZG, LJ98-14G069-BBG, LJ98-14G069-BBG, LJ98-14G069-BDG)

Does FDRS list out software codes? I'd imagine they'll be in FDRS before the formal notices go out on July 18th.
May I ask where July 18th was confirmed?

FDRS does show the versions installed. On my 2021 GTPE I’m LK98 prefix not LJ98. I will look at a few other VINs to see what matches up with the recall notice.

This is interesting. My car's current SOBDMC version is LJ98-14G069-AXG, which the recall lists as the fixed version. But that module hasn't been updated in my car since January 9th. So either the pdf is wrong, or that update has been out for a while. My BECM is currently at NJ98-14C197-AB, so that will definitely still need the update.

It does -- the software isn't in FDRS yet

Same here, mine is at BBG, I just got 2.7.4 yesterday. BECM needs update still.

This is in line with what we knew months ago but isn't inline with what we know now. So I'm just gonna sit back and let Ford trickle stuff out and not get ahead of them.
When you say "this... isn't inline with what we know now," can you please elaborate? What two things aren't comporting in your view?

Ford has been all over the place on this issue. It's not new as can be seen by the released NHTSA document. Some of us have connections high up in Ford that originally said "this is what we are going to do", but that's changed many times. What was just released as the "fix" is what we heard about months ago behind the scenes. But there was blowback from this "fix" and I even mentioned that back in this post.

So over time we've received more data that leaned more towards hardware being replaced. Ultimately, I think it comes down to finances and the hope that neutering 50k cars costs them less than doing the right thing.

If this is the case, it'll be very interesting to see what limitations actually come from the new software, if any. And, if those limitations exist regardless of old vs. new P/Ns being installed.

Well, it looks like OTA 2.4.2/2.7.2 included a SOBDMC update, so it's possible that a lot of cars already have the fix. From the recall info, it sounds like the SOBDMC update is what's supposed to prevent the issue from happening by monitoring contactor temperature (and reducing power if necessary). The BECM update sounds like it's more about detecting damage that has already occurred by monitoring resistance.

Yeah so maybe it’s Job 2 2021 and 2022s that will need the most updates
