I guess y'all can count me in on this.

This is my second major issue with the car. First issue was related to level 2 charging. I could charge at level 1 and 3 but not level 2. The dealer replaced the high voltage cable first, nothing. Then the charge port, nothing. Then the SOBDM. That resolved the issue. It took 32 days to get it back.

This time around everything was fine until one day my wife goes out to go to work. nothing. Cant open the door, cant use the keyfob, cant start it via the app. Again, nothing. Finally get the hood open via the contacts points in the bumper, then jump the car to get into the vehicle and start it. 12v battery is dead, ok cool. NP, but I cant drive it so it gets towed in.

In the shop for three days, get a call saying it is fixed. I ask what was up, they say needed a new battery.

Me: I reply, "ok, you sure that's all it is? Nothing caused it to die?"
Service Tech: "nope, we checked, everything is good."
Me: "okie dokie, I am hesitant but ok."

The car doesnt even get out of the parking spot they delivered it to me in and I am seeing all sorts of 12v system faults.

Electric Powertrain fault
Collision Assist Unavailable
Powertrain System Fault
Anti-Lock Brake Fault

I go get the service advisor and he asks me to pull it back into the service bay, I try to put it into drive to drive it and nothing. I get some sort of gear change error, transmission error, etc. I

I guess we will see what happens next.

Send me your VIN in a DM so I can see what was logged

The LVB won't have any issues if the contactors aren't welded. If the car turns on the LVB will be fine.
Depends on the contactor that failed and the mode. There are four contactors, so if it's the one connecting the LVB circuit, and it fails open, the LVB will eventually draw down. I'm still not convinced from all the anecdotal evidence that I understand what the failure modes are, so i'm just curious if there are issues that are not as dramatic as a brick, that could be informative about the root issue.

That being said, I did read Ford's very brief description of the problem they filed with NHTSA, and it is certainly consistent with the discussions on welding the drive motor contactors closed. FWIW, there are ~30 reported bricks to NHTSA while driving, including most recently by @scoopman.

If that is really the cause, then either FoMoCo engineers shit the bed on the specs, or the sub that produced the components falsified performance and QA data prior to the first production unit. Contactors are widely used in exactly this application, so there was absolutely no cutting edge to this tech, though there will always be some amount of infant mortality, but that rate should be very low.

Finally, if the drive motor contactors failed, i.e. welded, during drive operations, how does the control circuitry know this? During drive, the contactors have to remain closed to keep the motor(s) connected to the HVB source. It's only on transition to non-drive operations that the control circuitry would recognize that the contactors are welded. Just doesn't make sense.

Add me to the list.

Drove to town and back yesterday, about 30mi trip. Parked at home and plugged into the 110v. Kept getting charge faults. Went to move it to a 240v to see if it was the charger. Went into acc with stop safely now error.

Closest dealer to me is North Bay in Santa Cruz. They admitted they only have 1 tech for EVs and they haven't done anything like this before. Had it towed to Sunnyvale and opened a case. Waiting for diagnostics.

Oh nooooze, another one down!

At least it looks like you got towed safely. Request Andersen at Sunnyvale if you haven't already, I had a good experience with him.

I didn't know where else to post this info on the HVBJB (Version C) and didn't want to start another thread just for some photos. I figured Todd's thread here was the best place as he has a lot of info on the HVBJB in his first post. I am posting these photos in case someone happens to have access to version A or B and we can compare the numbers on some of the parts on the board to see what has changed. I also removed the back panel on the board to show some of the geeks here what it looks like.

The Ford Sacramento HVC (Regional Parts Distribution Center) which supplies many dealers in Northern CA had a couple hundred in stock from what my dealer told me. I would think if they have that many, Ford is expecting to change quite a few. Took one day to get this part.

Edit: the part number on the part below is for the standard Mach-E not for the GT. My Ford parts guy ordered the wrong part. I have since returned the part.

Sure and if you want any more photos or closeups let me know. I took them in a hurry with my phone but if you want better photos I can take them with a real camera. 😊

Here's the only good comparison I could find from Sandy Munro's video.

I requested it, but it is getting less and less likely they'll accommodate my request, as expected :(
So Neil you're getting the B part as well?

Yes, sir. I was sent these screen shots, the one showing part C and the other showing part A. I have no idea how to read it but he said it meant that C was not available for ordering but part A, which just orders B, was available.

sounds like we both got the Southern California special, aka part -B. Seems fine so far, I took it out for a couple of laughs this morning to try and feel a little better about the car.
