Apologize if this is a duplicate post or thread.

Recently got my Mach-E in late May. Was using the mobile charger on 120v until my 240v was installed about 2 weeks ago.

Temps here in Phoenix hit the 110s a few times over the last couple weeks. I charge my MME beginning around midnight to early morning. I’ve seen the Amber Light come on periodically since utilizing the 240v. I’ve check all the wiring and wall plug, they are not getting hot hot at all. Just the mobile charger is getting quite warm and I’m assuming the heat in the garage is the cause for the Amber light. Amber light comes on for a while, then off and back on. Ambient temp in my garage even overnight is in the high 90s.

The car is still charging fine and I’m not getting any charge faults in the Ford Pass App. Just wondering if anyone else has seen this here in Phoenix and if it’s just something I will need to live with for the Summer, or purchase a better charger.

FYI… I have done all the troubleshooting in the owners manual for the mobile charger.

Sounds normal for that unit.
If you have a fan in your garage then you can try using it to keep the unit cool. That should help. Eventually you will cook that mobile EVSE so think about a more durable unit for long term.
Are you SRP customer?

I am not SRP, we have APS. Suggestions on a good option for Level 2 charger? APS has some on their site. Interested in getting one I can adjust the Amps on from 16A to 32A+

I have a ChargePoint Home Flex and it has been great. The Juice Box by EnelX seems to get good reviews also. If you don't want a smart charger the GrizzlE is a popular choice.

APS currently is offering $250 rebate on Chargepoint. Making it the same price as Grizzle.

The catch is that you have to be patient and buy it when it's in stock on Amazon, and not put up with the profiteers.

ChargePoint Home Flex is a really good unit. The two here are identical, just with different plugs. Buy the less expensive one at $700 then you get a rebate looks like. That is a good price.

I did the same as shutterbug. The ChargePoint has worked well for me with my MME and a Honda PHEV. No problems.

I live in Vegas which is similar weather. I have noticed this summer that my charging speeds through the included charger have dropped dramatically. I have also noted the amber light as well. Is the slow charging a heat issue?

Small correction. ChargePoint has now bumped the price of their EVSE by $50, so they are now $749. I think that it's still a decent deal after rebate.

Yes, the owners manual says when the amber light comes on the charging amps drop. Reading other forums, I believe it drops to 24 amps or less if I'm not mistaken. So given that, charge time would be slower.

Wow, that was quick. They told us to get our orders in by July 15th end of day to avoid 18% price increase. I guess they weren't kidding.

$50 is a bit less than 18%, but I guess you meant commercial units.

What are everyone’s thoughts on the Juice Box 40 charger? Can you adjust the rate of charge with this charger, down to 32 amps or 24, 16 like with the charge point?

Juice Box is great. Yes, amps are adjustable but I only use a 40 amps setting.

What I like:
I Like the 25ft cable.
My local electric company discounted the cost by $250 last February.
Had one problem and called customer service. The response was excellent.
I have a Samsung/Android smartwatch and the Juice Box start/stop charging status appears on my watch.

Currently getting about 25 miles/hour during a charging session. I have rooftop solar and I charge in the early AM. So, the night before charging, I plugin the Juice Box, set start time at 8am and stop setting to 80% battery level. Works great.
