I called my dealer to schedule my annual inspection today. While it’s there, I asked that they also look into the “clunking” noise it’s making whenever I make a left or right turn. I also mentioned that I have to press the door open button multiple times on occasion to get the driver’s door to open. I repeated a few times that I suspected the BCM might have to be updated, but that they’d find out what needs to be updated when they connect the car to FDRS (note: the issue about the driver’s door is accurate, but I believe it also is a convenient way to get them to update the modules needed to enable the frunk release 😉 we shall see).
Here’s where it gets interesting - I said I wanted to bring my car in sometime the week of 24 April. He asked if I’d be dropping it off and I said that I’d wait. He then said that, since they’ll have my car for at least 4 hours, the pickup/drop-off service would be better. I said ok to that, and here’s the part I knew nothing of - they give you a complimentary loaner car as part of that service! I’m eager to see how it goes!

I always chose to wait. They get to the car faster that way. The service manager at my dealership actually got upset at me once when I said I would be waiting. Sounds like you have a better dealer.

I had my door button replaced (the key panel I think they called it) and the BCM updated. Lock button is still kinda flakey, but the door button works all the time now. See if you're was cracking, they'd replace that whole thing.

While its there have them do all the updates; you will then be able to open the frunk from the door keypad and from an f-150 lightning keyfob.

Loaners are optional. Sounds like you have a good dealer!

The clunking sound is caused by bad half-shafts. They need to replaced. There is a thread on that somewhere. Common issue with early build MMEs.

Good luck with the door opening. I've had every update known to man, and there doesn't seem to be a fix at present for the car being inconsistent in recognizing the PAAK and waking up to unlock the doors.

Loaners are up to the dealer I think.

My dealer offers an Enterprise rental or a Lyft I like doing the Lyft because you have to pay for the gas on the rental.

Thanks! I thought I saw something on here about the half-shafts. And the door button is mostly an excuse to make sure they do the update.

Interesting. We just had the driver's door decide to ignore the "let me in" button sometime in the last few weeks or so. I was thinking of seeing if it is repeatable. Is there a thread on that somewhere?

I've also started hearing the clunking. Super. I guess I need to schedule time to take it in to the dealer. Unfortunately because my local dealer is a bit of a bozo, that's a 60 minute drive down the interstate. At least it is getting warmer, maybe I can find some shade outside and take my steam deck for while I wait...

It took my dealer 5 days to get the half shafts in. 2 days on the B pillar piece for the door button.

Might want to bring a back up battery and a sleeping bag as well.

I’ll just hang onto the 2016 EcoSport L that I get as a loaner 😀 They can sort out the battery
