Took pictures of bezel diagnostics of the GT. Stupidly, I forgot to look at the Sync version 😤. Looks like some cosmetic upgrades coming, plus the ability to open the frunk from the screen.

Looks like there's an 'X' where the car icon is to bring down the settings. I don't recall anything else at the moment :(

Oh! Also, the volume meter is a horizontal strip, sitting about a quarter of the way from the top of the screen, rather than the vertical bar we have now.

I feel like I noticed the same thing in promo material for the lightning

Is the GT shipping? If it’s shipping and front trunk release is in the shipping vehicle, then there’s hope the rest of us will be getting it.

So they’re adding electronic frunk opening…. but nesting it here means it still takes three screen taps (plus whatever latency) to open both the rear hatch and frunk.

I personally don’t care about electronic frunk access via Sync because if I’m in front of the screen anyway, I might as well just pull the physical lever. What I do care about is being able to easily open the rear hatch while I’m in the car. If Ford won’t give us a physical button, it needs to be one tap on the screen.

Maybe I'm mistaken here, but I was under the impression that the current cars don't have the hardware for this. I thought that the current latch is purely mechanical. So it would require new hardware AND software

Well, there's at least some sort of electrical capability to open the frunk, since that's how the 12v emergency frunk opening works.

The hardware is there. Its currently just disabled. If you pull the latch fast enough you can hear the unpowered electronic motor make a noise as it releases.

All of the cars are mechanically equipped to electronically open the hood, since it is actually an electronic mechanism that is used to open the hood in the event that your low voltage 12v battery dies. You would be connecting two wires on the front bumper small circular access panel to an external battery, and that would initiate an electronic hood release to pop the hood.

Leveraging that mechanism to pop the hood electronically from within sync just requires a software update.

Well I stand corrected! That's a pleasant surprise. I had just given up on that dream!
