Farley said the UI refresh is coming to 2021/2022s as well. BC 1.2 is still up in the air.

Yeap - got the same email. Wish they'd be even more transparent with updates, but at least this is better than nothing.

Looking back at the OP description, I'm about 97.6% sure that without Ford telling me there's an update I wouldn't have noticed it. There's a good chance I still won't...

I also noticed this when I was looking for the update page to see if it matched the communication I had in the original post (looks like it does, but less detailed.

I wonder if this means they are thinking of adding a for charge upgrade for BlueCruise 1.2? Depending on cost, I think that’s a reasonable approach and would consider paying a small one time fee for a new feature like that to be added to my BlueCruise subscription.

This is why Ford has a hard time hitting all audiences. I love the dial and this is a good use of it. I use the dial for volume all the time and rarely (if ever) use the steering wheel buttons. Tap then dial for temperature is also an improvement vs. tap, then try to hold you hand steady on the slider as you bounce around.

As for voice controls - Hate them! Please make them never necessary for anything! the only good use I have found for them is navigating (using Google maps - Ford nav voice control is horrible) and setting reminders on my phone.

I love Mazda Connect's physical controls. There's a dial+select button (near where the MME's gear shift knob is), a back button, and three physical shortcut buttons. One for the last audio app, one for the last nav app, and one for Home. The only problem with Mazda is that the screen is NOT touchable.

To me the holy grail is the Mazda physical control system in addition to a huge touch screen. I like having both depending on the conditions and interactions needed.
