Got this today. This is going to be hard to resist for some EV buyers still on the fence.

That's great news for those interested in owning a Tesla. The more EV/fewer ICEV on the road the better.

So barebones M3 is priced $2.8k below barebones MME, while MY is $4.5k more expensive. So what? If the lowest price were the only concern then Tesla wouldn't be able to sell any other vehicles and nobody would ever order any upgrades to the base model.

The lowest price is the only concern to some people. These people can now drive an EV for $32k, which is cheaper than many ICE. That’s the big deal (and it’s been one since base M3 qualified for full fed credit a few weeks ago). It has nothing to do with competition with MME or upgrading to a higher spec-ed M3 or MY.

That is not a serious comparison.

Have you driven them all? A rwd 3 vs a Bolt, 26k vs 37k, very fair, similar to bumping up to 47k and getting a much nicer MachE. Features like 360 camera, cross traffic alert, are features bolt has but not Tesla. Take away the image of Tesla (coolness wore off a few years ago) and you will find nothing compares with a Bolt from a value perspective.

I’m not sure what you’re arguing here. If your argument is that model 3 sales will not increase because bolts are cheaper, then why did model 3 sell 6.3x the number of bolts last year, despite having a bigger price spread than today’s? It appears that a 360 camera doesn’t make up for a butt ugly design and comically small vehicle size.
We can like our MMEs without twisting ourselves into a pretzel to diss Tesla.

Your original post was about cheapest EV matters and now people can get one less than 32k, I was just pointing out there has been cheaper all along.

I’ve been looking at a Bolt EV for my brother and sister in law. The base $26K Bolt doesn’t even blind spot monitors (like Teslas) and has cloth seats. The trims you talk about with 360 camera are extra packages and only available in cars over $32K.

Bolt driving/handling is the worst of all EVs I’ve driven and I’ve pretty driven every single one released in the US almost. My brother doesn’t care because he’s used to Toyotas lol.

My post was about an attractive EV selling cheaper than ICE. And yes, that is big news for EV adoption that we should all celebrate. Bolts never sold well and will be discontinued despite being cheaper.

I hope I don't offend the Bolt lovers out there, but I would be embarrassed to be seen driving a Bolt. Nobody is ever going to compliment your car, but many have complimented my MME. It's a freaking ugly car that looks like it costs $10k. Not what I am interested in...

I agree, when I had my Bolt it did not get as many compliments as my MME. But my Rivian gets way more compliments than the MME, and it does not limit power after 5 seconds either. But then the MME is already well behind the Rivian in the first 5 seconds.
