Just finished test driving the Ford Mustang Mach-E Premium Ext AWD at Mahwah Ford in NJ. Here are my impressions:

The Good
  • Premium feeling interior
  • Wireless apple carplay
  • Handles very well, handles corners amazingly.
  • Very quiet interior
  • Plenty fast
  • Looks gorgeous
The Bad
  • Lower than I expected, I come from a Chevrolet Bolt EV and I feel when you open the car and get in the driver seat you have to go down into the car instead of like an SUV you pretty much slide right into it. I was hoping it was more like an SUV than a car.
  • The 1-Pedal mode and even the Gear selector on L mode has very weak regen compared to my Bolt EV. I need stronger regen. I was catching myself having to use the brake to stop the car completely which I never do on my Bolt EV. I honestly rarely ever use the brake. So when I see 1 Pedal driving I expect to be able to come to a complete stop when I get off the accelerator pedal not keep coasting.
  • 360 Backup camera is laggy. When you put the car in reverse it feels like the frame rate is slow or like the video feed is jittery, very strange to describe but not smooth at all.
  • Menu animations are okay a bit slow and not as snappy as I would like.
For people like myself comparing a Model Y to a Mustang Mach-E I honestly feel like these are two completely different cars. They drive very different. They feel very different. I mean they are honestly way more different than I expected. I am still deciding on which one to get.

Thanks for the review! I'm surprised you thought one-pedal drive was too weak. Most people seem to say it's strong enough to cause motion sickness anyway (anecdotal), and it will definitely bring the car to a complete stop. And hold it.

Thanks for the review. My wife thought the same thing about getting in and out. It was more car like than SUV like. How about the seat comfort between the two?

Thanks. Yeah its definitely weaker than my Bolt EV which I have gotten used to. And the brakes are strange like super sensitive and herky jerky. I mean the brakes almost send me flying out of my seat lol!

Definitely more car like than SUV. I actually just finished test driving the Model Y Long Range AWD about 30 minutes ago and the Tesla is definitely much higher. The seats of the Mach-E felt good, good materials, I didn’t feel any difference between the Tesla seat and the Mach-E seat in terms of comfort. My Bolt EV seats suck! The only thing I can say is the seats in the Mach-E need better bolstering in my test drive I tool it through some curvy roads and going fast trying to push the car to its limits. It was super fun but I was definitely slipping out of the seats in some of those corners and turns lol! I’m 6ft 2, 200lbs.
