You do realize that the whole point of plugshare is the share part and that if you see a station that isn't on plugshare you're supposed to add it (I've added one ! LOL).
Understood. I've made some corrections to their listings already.

What I think I'm seeing is that the DOE registry was more accurately excluding stations that aren't open yet.

PlugShare is showing an Electrify America location in northwest Phoenix that isn't on the DOE map. But I don't see any people "checking in" to it on PlugShare and no photos. I'm not going to correct the status unless I can get drive by confirmation but I won't be driving by there any time soon.

Plugshare does support a "Coming Soon" status (the Gaylord, MI L3 is listed as such: https://www.plugshare.com/location/244342 ).

In any case I wouldn't expect the various counts to perfectly match up simply due to the nature of the beast (even with chargers that belong to a network: some may fall out of network and still allow people to charge--I've seen a few Chargepoint chargers that aren't on Chargepoint's map but I could still charge there).

Here is a little real-world data for you: Today we took a short road trip. By short I mean less than a full charge but long enough to use 3/4 of the battery.

The trip is a 85 mile trip out and back for 170 miles round trip. I fully charged the Bolt overnight and before heading out the GOM (Guess-o-meter, or range to empty) read 230 miles.

Ok full charge, four adults in the car, mid 80s F temperature outside, A/C set to 71, used cruise control most of the way set to 71 mph - 74 mph depending on traffic with occasional passing up to 80 mph. Oh and it was an Ozone Action day here--but I wasn't contributing to any pollution (especially since I charge overnight LOL).

Reset the trip meter at the beginning of the trip: When driving if you add the trip meter to the GOM's current value you can see how you're doing: if the total matches the inital GOM value then you're as efficient as you have been, less means less efficient and more means more efficient (prior to this trip the Bolt has taken many short around town trips and thus have been reading very efficient--almost 4.5 miles/kWh).

Heading down the highway the trip meter reads 4.0 - 4.1 miles/kWh and the total of the trip meter and the GOM stays very close to the 230 miles I started with. At the destination the battery reads only 2 bars less than 1/4. Arriving home the car shows around 40 miles of range left and the total between the GOM and the trip meter is 220 miles. So by going 70ish mph on the highway we've only lost 10 miles, or about 4%...

Of course the Bolt has one of the more efficient drivetrains (aside from Tesla's) so this would be as expected and it remains to be seen how the Mach-E will perform in similar circumstances (given that its bigger, heavier, and already reported to be less efficient the highway losses may be higher).

I've also made this trip in much cooler weather (I think it was in the 40s F) and still made it on a single charge.

Thanks for the report but it would be great if you could add some "numbers".
-Does your Bolt have a 60kWh battery pack? How much of it is usable?
-You state "bars" less than 1/4. A bar equals 10% SOC?
-4.0 miles per kW at the start of the trip but not at the end of the trip? Is that correct? The overall average miles/kW?

LOL already had a bunch of numbers but ok:
  • Yes my Bolt has the 60kWh battery (it is a 2018 so has the "smaller" pack). Just about all of it is useable, there are very few margins on the Bolt--there are web reports that 58 or 59kWh are useable (but this isn't really relevant to the efficiency). Note that 238 miles of EPA rated range is very close to 4.0 miles/kWh * 60 kWh.
  • There are 19 bars in total to the Bolt's battery gauge
  • Trip meter still showed an average of 4.0 miles/kWh at the end of the trip
None of these extra numbers are relevant to the point of the post: that driving at highway speeds, at least in a Bolt, doesnt reduce the range that much.

Looks like the Green River UT charger is live (Salina UT too). That was the big dead zone on I-70 thru Utah. Makes a drive like Denver-Las Vegas more plausible now.

They state "future" sites but the maps does not detail exactly where these 100+ plus sites will be. Some future sites are shown but more need to be.
