In Mass with used rebates I bought a 2020 Chevy Bolt Premier, low miles for $7,500. I just checked, there are others for sale right now in Mass for $8k after rebates. I share these deals with friends and family and still people arent jumping at them. The Leaf was selling new for $11,500 back in 2015-2016. While I do think BYD will be a disrupter we have had amazing deals already and people dont take advantage.

I also feel this is overblown. As @MacherAWD mentioned; plenty of cheap Chevy Bolts available now nobody is buying. US consumers want ridiculously oversized trucks/SUVs not reasonably sized cars. This is a big reason Ford stopped making cars entirely. Maybe that will change in the future. Personally, I'm hoping for a return to the days of sport compact car fad. Ha! Wishful thinking.
