Time for the E-Bird - 65 Years of Ford Progress

Maybe one of Ford's future projects should be the E-Bird. The name was used for some of the '57 Thunderbirds that had the 312 cu. in. engine, but I feel it should be use to resurrect the Thunderbird (again) as an electric two place sports car based on the Mach-E. It should use most of this '56 T-Bird's design features and use a retractable hard top (with a porthole, of course), with a large frunk providing the cargo space. Like the Mach-E, beauty would have a higher priority over aerodynamics.
For many people, the '56 T-Bird still defines beauty in automotive deign. An alternative name could be the Mach-E-Bird.

I'm sure it's being or has been considered.

The MME platform will no doubt serve as a launching point for a few models, much as the K-car platform did for Chrysler.

As long as they dont screw it up like the T-bird from a few years agi as that was a dud

Ford already tried resurrecting the T-bird from the dead once, during the J Mays era. They really took a good swing at it. They gave it the Jaguar S Type for underpinnings, all the best bits and pieces out of the various ford parts bins of the era to create a very well-appointed cabin. It still never became anything other than an expensive niche car that lasted just a few years during the “retro” fad. I’d suggest that ford leave the Thunderbird on the shelf for a while and continue to focus on those vehicles that will bring in money. The market for personal luxury coupes doesn’t exist. Heck, even though it’s sacrilege to say, the market for the Mustang Coupe barely exists.
