I really wish the cross climate 2 was offered in a higher load rating. The stock tires on our Mach-e have been great, but the Generals on my Lightning are very marginal in winter weather. No real good options out there for replacements that don't absolutely destroy range (mostly LT rated all terrains).

Great info. Personally, I'm looking into the new Hanook iON evo when it comes time to replace my tires, but I'll wait to see some reviews. https://www.hankooktire.com/us/en/tire/ion/evo-as-suv.html
I put CC2s on my GT wheels to run as my winter set and the efficiency has taken a noticeable hit. I bought another wheelset from Ford to mount the original Continentals which I’ll run as 3-seasons until they’re worn out at which point these Hankooks look really attractive as replacements.

Hmm. This is disappointing. I bought CC2's for my Pilot in 2020 (I believe it was a pretty new tire at that point) and I just love them for Minnesota winters.

The way my 3-month-old AWD MME handles in the snow and ice I've been thinking I should replace the stock tires before next winter so I don't have to go through this again.

I still would lean towards the CC2 even with the range hit, but its a bummer to see such a big difference in range. A quick perusal on Tesla forums seems to echo these numbers with the CC2.

And I'm really not interested in owning a 2nd set of tires, so I guess a range hit is in my future.

Yup me too.

Engineering Explained (YouTube) has a pretty good video on the EV tire dilemma.

If I recall, he does talk about the Hanook's. I'm kind of a home body in the winter with a short 12 mile commute to work if I don't work from home. I could take the range hit on the CC2s. The issue I have is it has not been snowing as much in NH in the winter these past few years. I have yet to start up my snow blower this winter. Might not be worth it for me to choose traction over range, at least as it pertains to snow.

Of course traction matters on wet (but not snow covered) and dry roads as well but the iON might fit the bill for that.

If you would consider it reach out to me I have a set of OEM select wheels and 18" Vredestein winters listed on this site they are great I am trading for a GTPE and can't use an 18" wheel. Going down to 18" had a positive effect on efficiency and the winters have a negative effect the two effects almost nullify each other. Also I am in MN

For MN this also could be a good option, once its available

these are awesome for winter snow/ice
softer compound stock width (225) on 18" wheel barely affected my mi/kWhr.... not as much as running eHeat in the winter.... well worth the better traction if you have snow/ice/cold temps

Me too, I put on the Continental DWS and not happy with my range loss
How much range loss. You should only see 5-7% from non ev tires. I have 255/45-20 DWS 6+ put on at delivery and still get 3.6-4.0 kWh/mi. I am not going to take the horrendous wet weather and winter performance of an EV tire.

That Hankook will be absolutely horrendous in the snow and wet. The sipes are far far too small and not enough voids for snow on snow traction. Also that compound which has a very high silica content otherwise known as glass will be rock hard in low temperatures further compounding the problem. They state 6% average gain is it worth it for all the compromises in ride comfort and traction?

I’ve had the CC2 from day one so never noticed the range hit. They do handle extremely well in the snow and up short mountain roads.
I was digging cars out of the snow outside my place in December and then drive out in the Mach-e without any difficulty.
The noise when driving is annoying at times (from the tires)

I’m not seeing those figures over winter with my cc2. Not even in kms.
