Tracker for the MME

Hi all,

My dealer is trying to convince me that I need a tracker for the car in case the car would be stolen.
The tracking feature is actually interesting but I am wondering if an additional/external system is needed.

We have the tracking inside Ford Pass, so I guess it should be enough.
That said, I don't know if the modem feature can be activated or deactivated from just a setting on the screen in the MME, or if a password is requested for this? Without a password, it would then be silly to rely on this, as this could be deactivated by anybody stealing your car.

From the people here who already have got their car, could you please confirm the process for this and your feeling about the need of an external tracker?

Having a tracker installed is redundant.

Your car sends periodically, or can be asked, where it is at any time. As you mentioned, you can use the "Maps" tab in FordPass to look at its location.

If you vehicle was actually stolen, your authorized local law enforcement could call Ford and get the exact GPS location of your vehicle at any time, at least in North America.
