On some vehicles, sometimes the shift knob will rotate from park without pressing the brake first. It won't actually shift, but it will spit out an error code and you could see a wrench icon and a service vehicle soon error message. Seems like sometimes the locking mechanism fails to actuate properly. A GSM module update is available that may fix this issue on some vehicles, however if the GSM is marked with a 1, 2, or 3 per below it needs to be replaced when encountering this error. SSM 51057 was previously released for this issue, this TSB now directs GSM replacement in some cases. A reminder the GSM is not able to be updated OTA, this must be done via dealer programming (FDRS).

This could definitely explain my SVS message. I wonder if it is worth the hassle of getting it fixed when it is such a rare occurrence. The headlight switch problem is much more annoying and yet no fix yet.

Anyone know why the GSM is not updateable via OTA? I thought one of triumphs of the MachE was that every software module at least OTA capable?
Ford never said every module was OTA capable. They just said MOST. It's ironic that Darren Palmer has chosen the GSM module to use as an example in interviews when he talks about OTA updates. He could have picked so many other modules that actually are OTA capable, but seems to be sticking with the GSM.

very few are not OTA capable, it's probably something to do with what vendor they use, honestly it's quite a feat that so much of the car is OTA capable

Yeah, I've seen that enough times on here to suggest it was probably GSM software related

Too bad the headlight switch isn't OTA capable (or updateable at all).

As long as service times at the dealer are despicable, Iā€™m going to stick with muscle memory and just touch the brake before I turn the knob. Iā€™m not going to give my car to the dealer for three weeks just so they can do a half hour of work.

My car does this but it doesn't throw a wrench code or freak out. All it does is pops up a message saying "depress brake to shift from P" and immediately goes back into park. Not sure if it actually goes out of park and back in or just stays in park.

This seems to be accurate with the exception of the SOBDM. We know from the 22S41 recall that the SOBDM is actually OTA updateable, but this chart from the manual says otherwise.
Ford Mustang Mach-E TSB 22-2343 - Shift Knob Rotates Without Brake Pedal Depressed, Transmission Remains In Park (P) OTA_Update_Capable

EDIT:
I just checked the version from the thread above and it actually shows that the SOBDM is updateable via OTA. They must have changed the manual since I downloaded this page.

Odd because I posted that thread March of 2021. I was going to check the WSM to see if it has been changed since then.

I got that from the PTS version of the workshop manual for the 2022 F-150 (I have a Lightning), so it's entirely possible that there are differences that haven't been reconciled between the two locations (assuming they are different sets of pubs?). I don't have a current subscription to PTS so I can't check.

Today I accidentally turned shifter while car was moving at low speed. Surprisingly without depressing the brake pedal itā€™s shifted to the park and car hard stopped. Never thought this can be possible. Itā€™s normal or something ford messed up again?

Every car Iā€™ve ever owned could go into park without pressing the brake pedal. As far back into the 1970ā€™s!
