Just came back from a 900 mile road trip but the car is amazingly clean and almost bug free! I am going to apply another coat of ceramic detailer to prepare for our upcoming love bug season. UGH!!!
UG! Forgot about the two lovebug seasons each year in Florida. The ceramic coat will really help get those off the front of the car. My ceramic coat is also doing an amazing job in keeping the car looking great even after road trips or rain exposure...just sheds everything you don't want on the surface. A great wax can help with protecting the surface from grime and UV degradation but the ceramic coat is superior and last so much longer.

Used to use their ICE line of products on my 2002 Thunderbird and it was awesome. Received a lot of compliments on how my Bird shined. Now I have switched to Turtle Wax Ceramic Hybrid Solutions and find this is even better than the ICE line of products IMHO. They have an entire line of products from their ceramic wash to the Ceramic Hybrid spray wax to their Ceramic detailer. People now comment on my Mach E and how shiny it looks. I applied two coats of the ceramic sealer/wax and it is supposed to last a year; we'll see. I didn't clay bar the paint but I will probably do that and an iron removing agent along with a final alcohol wipe (no color correction step) the next time I wax the car.
Well I waxed the car again because of those damn water spots. I've tried a Mequiars water spot remover with no luck so I went with Chemical Guys and tried their water spot remover gel. I spent 2 days buffing the car with this gel then clay baring the car and thought I had gotten rid of them but they seem to be etched into the glass and probably the flat surfaces of the paint (clear coat) on the car (hood, parts of rear). The next thing to try is a compound with an orbital buffer for paint correction and this is beyond my area of expertise. The car looks good and shines up beautifully. Its only when I check the paint with my LED paint examiner light that you can see the spots. They're small so it must have been a fine mist water spray; maybe at the factory. At first I thought I did it but they're too embedded for me to have done it. I probably should get a quote from my detailer on what he would charge me for the flat spots that are affected. As an aside, I took the car out to the Apple store in an adjoining suburb shopping mall and they have 4 Electrify America chargers so I figured I'll try one again with the Plug and Charge and it worked flawlessly. But the charge from 84 to 90% took over 30 minutes so it is really slow in the higher SOC as has been noted. The saga continues . . . .

EDIT 8-27: Here it is today - in front of Pet Smart store.

I can remember days traveling I-4 or I-95 from Tampa to Jacksonville and just have to stop and clean a patch of windshield to see. Wipers just smeared that mess.. If you don't remove them from the front of the car in 24 hrs you can sustain some permanent damage. They are bad to drive in during those two periods each year.

Honestly Mike, the car looks great. if you need to use the detail light to see the spots, they're not really an issue beyond the fact that you know they're there.

You're right! I'm getting OCD over this illusion of what I think it should look like and it's never going to get there. The car is fine the way it is right now. This is a trait of those of us who go into dentistry (other professions too I'm sure) in that we're perfectionists and think the end result of our work has to be perfect when in reality it cannot be. You strive for clinical excellence and that is always your goal but there is no such thing as a perfect result. I know the same thing is happening on my car and I am going to stop before I do something that might ruin the finish.

This video is from Aug 1. 6 weeks after the original application and was taken after another full foam cannon + hand (microfiber mitt) wash. Beading ability really starting to wear off at this time.

... and this from today, Aug 28th. Tomorrow will be 10 weeks since application. Last weekend I did a long road trip which resulted in a few bug splatters on the front and hood and I didn't have time to wash it until today so there were nice and baked on. The foam cannon and rinse took almost all of them off and the rest slid right off with the wash mitt so I think there is still a good bit of protection on there - just not very hydrophobic as evidenced by the lack of beading in this video.

I just put a coat of Turtle Wax 3n1 Ceramic detailer on my Wife’s car today. Dropped a towel on the hood and it slid right off. In the garage now, but will probably be out in the rain tomorrow. Our monsoon season has cranked up again after taking a week off!
This too is all I did on my MME and it's still beading water incredibly well. I've only washed the car twice since I bought it as weather has been pretty crappy this summer, and I just didn't feel like getting a proper coating on it yet.

In the Fall, I will be sticking with Turtle Wax hybrid solution on my MME. The last car I did, I applied a coat of hybrid ceramic polish and wax using a DA polisher, then applied a second coat with the ceramic spray coating. I did this early on in the Spring and it's still beading like when I first applied it. The key is always in the preparation for the best results. I used iron remover and then clay bar before applying.

My other 2 cars I used the much more expensive CarPro products and ceramic coating. The result was great, but I feel the ceramic coating requires more TLC. My Tesla with the CarPro CQuartz had some major water spotting. It was my fault - I sprayed it down with a battery operated "pressure washer" a few times in the winter after the car was coating with road salt. It got off all the salt, but I didn't dry it properly and ended up with the water spots. Followed it up with a CarPro polish that is meant for the coating, but it only removed like 75% of the spotting. Likely would've had to completely strip off the ceramic coating and start over. I traded it for my MME instead :)

With the Turtle Wax products, I wouldn't feel so bad if I had to start over, and it would be relatively easy to start over compared to removing the ceramic coating.

Speaking from my experience with Turtle Wax Ceramic Hybrid Solutions it’s not so easy to start over. I had spotting and so I washed my car with Chemical Guys Clean Slate car wash to remove the current coating then treated the entire car with Chemical Guys Water Spot Remover which took major elbow grease followed by clay bar of entire car. I didn’t use iron remover and probably should have as our water is well water and high in iron content. Anyway, put on 2 coats of Hybrid Solutions again. Shine is terrific but all the water spots haven’t been removed. Since this is my second attempt to remove them I’m going to leave it for now. Any further treatment will be done by professionals (detailers). I’ve never had a problem with any of my cars with spotting until now and suspect they formed before I purchased the car.
