It would seem to be a wise thing to have two-factor authentication to start and possibly access your vehicle as a theft deterrent. TFA is a common standard for many software applications today. Perhaps a PIN code prompt on the screen. A fingerprint reader on the start button down the road would be a great feature.

Any word of this as a possibility for the Mach E's as a user option? Perhaps it could be done in a software update

A quick google search shows that Tesla and Dodge already have this for some models.

PaaK could also be a "second factor" [similiar to a hardware token, and assuming the PaaK connection is secure]

Two factor would probably be a disaster when using the backup password since the password was designed to be used when your phone went dead or is not with you when needing to start the car.

A key fob or PAAK which relies on a secure token seems good enough.

I'll go on record. I do not want a finger print reader on the start button... ever.

The code on the door and to start and drive the car is useful when I don't have my phone.

2FA is great for a lot of things, but getting my car started is not one of them.

Except folks using the PIN generally don't have a fob or phone available. That's why they are using the PIN.

I think a PIN code prompt on the screen would be a good idea. Although as I'm in the UK we haven't got PAAK or probably unlikely to, due to the strict UK insurance requirements. 2 (Fiesta) keys for the UK only. Not keen on fingerprint reader as I did accidentally burn my finger tips once when getting something out of the oven. Damn smartphone wouldn't read my fingerprint after that as the print had changed due to burning.

Not used the PIN on the door.

I use 2FA everywhere I can. But I'm not sure it would be best for my car. If I need to have someone drive my car in the possibility that I'm injured or incapacitated that could end in disaster.

I might forget my FOB. I rarely forget my phone (my watch alerts me if I leave it behind). It would be nice to have the option to use the presence of the phone in the car as a back up security measure. Easily, toggled off in the Ford Pass app for valet situations of course 😊.

Maybe that's why PaaK quite often unlocks the door, but then isn't detected as a key - it's forcing random checks of TFA.

It's a feature, not a bug! Clever, Ford!

PIN to drive is one of my favorite features of my Tesla.

Yep - I think it's PaaK and/or Fob and/or PIN and/or retinal scan :)

Really I'd just like to see a PIN on the deep settings, so in the off chance someone managed to steal the car they can't reset it. Maybe by default the car just turns on to valet mode, you can still drive, but to change anything you need a PIN/both keys/etc.
