Ya I’m thinking you have a flexible piece of rubber where it meets the pad to allow you to plug the cable in and then a piece of molded plastic that comes up and covers the USB port. You could even make a hole in that molded plastic for the USB A port.
Maybe someone on here can make something like this with one of those fancy 3D printers which is something I do not have. Maybe I can ask Zac over at AOSK if he can come up with something.
Yeah the wiring would be the tricky part though. I’ve seen other products that have smaller wiring though, so it’s definitely possible.
This is why I did not buy one months ago but after installing the updated version last month, I hardly notice the cable and little box now. Normally it is quite dark in that area. The photo below shows more light on the little box and cable than there normally is. It's just the way the camera took the photo and some reflections in the gloss black plastic console trim makes things look a little distorted with the lighting but it's really not all that bad.
oh and the cable is barely visible. I am able to charge two devices and use my music USB stick in the second USB port on the car right under it so there’s enough current for everything.
Is there a picture of what the new version looks like?
That’s the only thing holding me back from buying one. Once they get rid of that box I’ll be the first to buy one.

That’s what I was afraid of. I won’t buy it until that box is gone. I can clearly see the USB port with my driving position, so I will see that ugly cable. I can get over something being plugged in, but that box is a dealbreaker.
I would buy one if it didn’t use the USB port and instead simple replaced. The built-in Qi charger
