If I get one of these, will I need to somehow disable the existing Qi charging slab or will it be OK just putting the Twaps charging puck slab over the top of it?

You can just put it on top and it will not affect the Twraps charging pad at all. You can if you want, disable the OEM wireless charger
in FORScan.

It's non conductive (like the rubber mat) so putting something on top isn't a problem.

This is a great idea, but the price is a bit up there. Can anyone vouch that they're getting at least 15W of charging out of it? (Using an app like ampere or similar)
This is Qi 1 compliant. Not Qi 2 compliant. iPhone will only charge at 7.5w.

Just got mine today and don't have great news. With my Pixel Fold in a mag safe case the pad didn't charge half the time and my phone would slowly lose battery. According to the app ampere it maxed out at 300A but usually charged at 10-100A, and would often discharge at about 100-400A instead. I tried using a 30W brick instead and that gave me similar but consistently higher speeds. For comparison on the same USB C port in the Mach E using a cable I got 1500-2000A, and using my desktop magsafe charger I'm getting 1400A from a 30W brick and a consistent 200-300A from the USB C port in the car. The Mach E built in wireless charging pad gives me 0-100A when it works and similarly discharges otherwise.

Edit: It does work well with my girlfriend's iPhone. I'm going to give it another chance on another long drive / real world scenario to see how it performs then.

Edit 2: I was able to use it on a long drive today successfully. My Pixel Fold charged and didn't overheat while also using wireless Android Auto. I think Ampere was giving me bad information or it running was affecting the results. In a real world scenario it's much more effective.

Happy owner with an iPhone Pro Max 15 -charges as well as my other MagSafe chargers, phone doesn't overheat, works through the MagSafe case and holds the phone perfectly - enough so it doesn't move off the charger, but not so much that it lifts the tray when I take it out. Can charge two Pro Max phones at the same time.

The_only_ thing I would love... if it had some compartment divider at the back - I keept a pen and some printed "Valet instruction cards" there.

Does anyone know whether the build-in charger is Qi 1 or Qi 2 compliant?
Qi 1
The Mach E came out in 2021. The Qi2 standard was released on April 19, 2023.

Considering buying this but don't have a magsafe case (and don't want to get one). How's driving without magsafe? Does the phone stay in place or is there a lot of sliding around?

You don’t need a MagSafe case, just an iPhone compatible with MagSafe. I don’t have a case on my phone and it works great. My wife has a normal case on her phone and no issues for her either. Way better than stock.

I’m not sure how it works if your phone isn’t compatible with MagSafe. Maybe it’s just a regular wireless charger but with a limited sweet spot.

Ah! I have a Pixel 6 - I thought magsafe was just the connection, not also the charging protocol.

You’d have to get a MagSafe case to use this charger, which you can for the Pixel 6. Mag safe holds the phone magnetically for wireless charging, which you seem to know. To answer you question, your phone will just slide around on the surface without it. No point of getting this without a MagSafe case. Totally worth it though!!

Okay, thanks! That's an extremely helpful reply!

This one won't be for me then. I hate Magsafe cases.

My Pixel 8 Pro gets pretty hot when I run Android Auto and charge on the TWRAPS v2. Anyone else have this problem? Does the case with the magnet matter, or is this just a common issue with Qi charging?
