Hi folks. I think I saw one other post on here from a similar error, but I decided to take a road trip with my MME, and now, four hours away from home on the return leg, I got a 'Park brake fault - Service now'. (I think this is payback for having P&C work successfully all trip long.) Parking brake is not engaging with the switch, but I'm not getting the 'stop safely' message and can still drive it. Any reasons that would be a bad idea, just so I can get home?

ETA - no one at Ford seems to have an answer. Now trying to chat via FordPass, since no one is open at this hour, naturally

Step on brake pedal and operate the parking a few times.

you have to operate the parking Brake with your foot hard On the brake.

Drive the piss out of it. Just one of those bugs.

Oh boy. Kept driving, and suddenly got a slew of error messages. I think my car is in the process of shitting the bed. Still 90 miles away from home. I actually have a 12v battery voltmeter (which I purchased out of paranoia) and that reads a healthy 14.4V

I seem to remember these 'assist' errors coming up for someone else. I'll search, but in meantime my blood pressure is through the roof...

To your mention of the "assist" errors, some comments with similar symptoms mention an issue with the IPMA, e.g.:

Thanks! Certainly sounds suspicious. Made it home very cautiously - hopefully I didn't nuke anything from driving on it so long. Had a few code brown moments when the turn signal stalk wouldn't actually activate anything. After some frantic button pushing, I wonder if there was a massive backlog of error messages that interrupted input signals from the stalk? After pressing the OK button on the steering wheel several times, I could semi-reliably activate my turn signals again, though the amber warning icons were still there. Sigh.

I had the park brake fault the first weekend I had the car.
They told me it was a "short in the switch" and "fixed it" and would order the switch.
They have no record of any of this so I haven't had a replacement switch put in.

I'm not overly worried about it. But I didn't have any of the other warnings.

Yeah. Just got a call from them saying that they had so many error codes come up, they first went ahead and cleared them all and now none have returned, of course (they took the advice of @janitorjim it seems.) Even the parking brake fault is gone.

Super weird. They are going to hold onto it one more night & see if they can get any errors to recur, but then there's not much else they can do if nothing comes back up.

We're gonna save a LOT of transportation money on these cars.

We won't dare drive them.

I well bet that at some time the 12 volt battery almost went dead.

Always make sure the car is either turn off when doing anything or all the way on.

Day 4 at the dealer, and they still haven't been able to replicate any errors. At least they are pushing all the software updates they can, including the 12V TSB, and I think I ought to get it back tomorrow. Hopefully a one-and-done fluke?

Sigh. Took the family on an 800 mile road trip, and the drive down went fine. When I powered the car up this morning, though, the parking brake fault error was back. Nothing else came up this time (yet) and after cycling the brake a few times the error went away. Still pretty unnerving, since I don't want to strand the wife and toddler along with me.

Since my last experience, I picked up an OBD II dongle and bought Forscan Lite, just in case, and pulled this particular DTC off:

===ABS DTC C0609:01-ED===
Code: C0609 - Park Brake Switch Circuit

Additional Fault Symptom:
- General Electrical Failure

Status:
- DTC Present at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is On for this DTC
- Test not complete

Module: Antilock braking system
===END ABS===

===ABS DTC B1111:66-2C===
Code: B1111 - Electric Park Brake Enable

Additional Fault Symptom:
- Signal Has Too Many Transitions/Events

Status:
- DTC Maturing - Intermittent at Time of Request
- Malfunction Indicator Lamp is Off for this DTC

Module: Antilock braking system
===END ABS===

There are several other DTCs which don't necessarily seem relevant, but this one seems to be the culprit. Any ideas?? I will probably try to find an EV-trained Ford dealer nearby...see if they can at least give it a once-over before we hit the road for home...
