I had an email yesterday from our Fleet Team and it had a forwarded an email from Ford saying that there was going to be a 'minor recall' for Mach-E's in the UK and that Ford were writing to each owner/driver direct to advise them but it was giving us the heads up. Any ideas what this would be for?

Windscreen and pano roof reseal?

this has probably been asked and answered, but those of you who set departure time ... i am guessing you adjust for Detroit Time ? so set DT + 5hrs (4hrs today until US switches time)
Agreed - great car apart from crap suspension - every other manufacturer has more or less sorted the EV ride conundrum.

Funny that- as you know like you I had a C-HR and the 'range' plummeted in the winter. Here in the even balmier Cornish Peninsula we rarely even get frost. Yes my range has dropped BUT... I've seen the range climb from first thing in the morning to lunchtime without the car turning a wheel. The other day I drove across town to the supermarket and when I got home I had more range than when I started! On the way back I have to go down VERY steep hills, and brake coach was congratulting me for replenishing energy used by 100% because of my use of regen. I started from home with a range of 195 miles and when i got back it was 205! Still got 83% charge and that hasn't really altered for days.

It's too easy to get hung up on the guessometer. In some ways I wish it wasn't there. After all, all we had on our ice cars was a fuel gauge and that worked fine...
I don’t know who it was in this forum or someone in the wider forum who mentioned this…

I have turned off eheat and aircon and rely only on seat and steering wheel heating. The inside warmth is comfortable enough even when the outside temperature was 2C.

i am able to get 3.1 mls/kWh at least and at times have gotten 5.4 mls.

The caveat is that I have tried this only in the last two days and have done only short, local trips.

After my email to Hannah I received this response. It would appear the tech team weren't aware of

Hi who is Hannah ? lost of issues with my car none serious mostly Ford pass issues (Actually Ford Pass is the wrong name it should be Ford Failed) Love the car but now keeping a diary of faults (anomalies) Took car int dealers with list and pictures to try and sort out non functioning Ford Navigation but could not fix it If this Hannah is the contact at ford would be useful

Yes Eheat appears to be a massive drain.

I keep e-heat on all the time at 20 deg. The car gets warm and stays warm quite fast. My consumption is 2.8-3.2 m/kw depending on terrain.

First road trip. Today I took my Mach-E from Northamptonshire to Aberfoyle in Scotland, total distance of 386 miles travelled averaging 3.3 miles per kw. I used the cruise control set it at 70mph, climate control on auto set to 21 degrees, temperature outside ranged from 7-11 degrees. Pretty good I thought.

How long did it take and what about charging en-route? Your consumption looks good which has to be very encouraging.

It took around 8,5 hrs which included three charge stops, the third one wasn’t really necessary but I only did it to ensure that I arrived at my hotel with 75% charge. I did this as there is only one ChargePlace Scotland charger in Aberfoyle and didn’t want to risk it not working with the Mach-E or it being used and I couldn’t get charged.

Must be the week for road trips :)

I just got back from a week away in the Barnard Castle area <insert obligatory eye test joke here>

Few things I picked up on the trip and the 1,200 miles covered this week:
  • IONITY chargers are pretty good as long as you use the Ford Charging Network card to reduce the price from 69p/kWh to 30p/kWh. Despite the high price for non Ford cardholders they are suprisingly popular with everyone.

  • The all new shiny Gridserve Chargers that have replaced the old cranky Ecotricity ones are themselves becoming a bit unreliable and cranky. At each of the following services on the A1 there were multiple Gridserve chargers that were out of order…. Wetherby, Scotch Corner, & Ferry Bridge.

  • There are some selfish Mach-E drivers out there. On two separate occasions at rapid chargers where there was a queue of people waiting - there were Mach-E’s that had been left plugged in charging well over 80% (trying to get to 100%?) with the owners nowhere to be seen. This is insane and was giving us a bad rep with other EV owners as after 80% you’ll be lucky to pull more than 7kw, and that last 20% will take 2½ hours even on a rapid charger. Blocking a rapid charger like that is not good (happened at A1 Wetherby Services & IONITY Peterborough)

  • Don’t use the LIDL PodPoint charger at New Road in Crook after dark. It’s has no streetlights and despite being located next door to a Police Station has a gang of kids who will throw bricks and fireworks at anything that takes their fancy (including the reception desk of the Police Station!)

  • Now the chilly nights and mornings are here, at 4ºC and below you get an ice warning light on the drivers display:

Ford Mustang Mach-E UK Customers C0E811F6-8667-400E-A55D-2A28E9904B10

And that all important detail that everyone asks….. Trip Average of 3.2m/kWh with lots of 75mph A1/Motorway driving, lots of cold rainy weather driving, lots of steep and twisty roads in the Pennines, heating always on AUTO and set to 19ºC

It seems to me that if anything technical needs investigation, then the technical team need our dealers to report it to them not Hannah. She might be able to help if it is a simple reset but anything else needs a dealer report.
So my advice is that if any of you has ANYTHING that you feel is wrong with the car, like this welcome light/puddle light/door button issue then let your dealer know and ask him to escalate to the tech team. The more people that report these issues the better chance we have of getting a solution. Having trawled some of the other threads here it would appear that many people on the other side of the pond, both US and CAN are having the same issues

I have loads of little issues, booked in with dealer next week to look at them all.

Just got my recall email for windscreen and panoramic roof, so that’s something else I’ll have to get sorted at some point.
