I just found a touch less car wash in my area
All their options have an “underbody blast” wash.
Since the underbody of the Mach E is all battery, how safe is this?

It's not a problem, it's all sealed and designed for the elements.

Has anybody actually done it… safely?
As stated, there is nothing unsafe about it.

It's also a waste of money. Go look at the underside of the car. Battery, and a diaper.

Save your money.

I doubt it will spray any harder than this:

Per the owners manual (p313), you are suppose to flush the underside of the car. It is recommended so no issue.

CLEANING THE UNDERBODY
Flush the complete underside of your
vehicle frequently. Keep body and door
drain holes free from packed dirt.

I go through a touchfree car wash twice a month or so that includes this. Been doing so for over a year. No worries.

@RickMachE how'd you miss this in the manual? 😉

I've never seen it as a selectable option at a carwash - it's usually just included with mid and higher tiers (that also come with other, more useful upgrades as well)

I'd go a step further and say it's not only safe, but necessary if you live in an area that salts the roads in the winter.

I did look at the manual, I was concerned about the pressure of the water some car wash machines use.
Sorry, it’s a forum inside joke. Rick always is telling folks to read the manual… That’s why I tagged him and not you.

Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know it's in the manual. Go do it, and see how much it floods your garage. I wash wheelwells, that's good enough for the winter months.

In addition to the radiator, the battery is also being cooled thru the belly pan. So you do not want to have dirt accumulated on it. This is probably not a problem in the winter cold months, but should be cleaned in the hot weather.
