I just took delivery of my 2023 Mach-E Premium last week and I'm confused about some strange charging behavior. Hours of research has led me to believe that something may not be right. When I charge at home, I'm using the Ford Mobile Charger (for now, a third party EVSE is on the way) for Level 2 charging and I'm using Preferred Time and Preferred Charge Limit. I set this up in the app but have confirmed the setting in the EV. I have set my charging time from 1AM to 5AM and have set the limit to 80%. Typically I have about 60-65% battery left and it only takes a couple of hours to get to 80%. When I plug in, the app and EV indicate it is waiting for the preferred charging time. The EV does start charging at 1AM and usually gets to 80% around 3AM. When I check the app it says that charging has finished. It shows no current charging rate, however, the energy added keeps going up, and continues to do so (about 7 kW/h) until I unplug the EV . The battery percentage and range hold steady, but the energy added keeps climbing. When I go to unplug the EV, it is still buzzing like it's charging, and the charge indicator near the port is still pulsing blue in the 4th segment. I was under the impression that the charging indicator would turn white when it was done. How can the car draw that much power and not charge the battery with it? What is it doing? Or is this a bug of some sort? I know the EVSE I have coming will give a better indication if the EV is actually drawing power, but this is kind of scary. Last night, a charge that should have used about 14kW ended up being nearly 40kW (according to FordPass) by the time I unplugged. I have not determined if this occurs everywhere I charge, since charging at work is time limited and I never get to 80% in the time allotted. Just wondering if anyone had any insight. Thanks.

FordPass is notoriously unreliable for data collection. Take everything with a grain of salt.

I totally get that, but the EV isn't providing great info either. The instrument cluster says it's not charging and holding 80% but the charging indicator at the charge port says it still IS charging. So I don't know what to do other that see what my EVSE says once I get it and it's installed.

That sounds really strange. My suggestion - clear your settings in the app and car and then just set them in the car. If you search the forum you can see where many users have had problems with settings in the app. Not sure it will work but worth a try.
