I managed to find a Tesla Gen2 Mobile EVSE and the NEMA adaptor kit on ebay for a couple hundred bucks last week and wanted to experiment with it's ability to swap out the different NEMA plugs in order to have a more compact kit for charging anywhere. I have a couple pics below showing charging on some of the common adapters. The one thing that I found is that the car doesn't care if you use the NEMA 5-15P or NEMA 5-20P which are the 120V 15A & 20A respectively. It will only charge at 12A. If you use any of the 240V NEMA adapters, it will adjust accordingly. I picked a few of the common ones to test. I can assume they all perform the same. I don't have any pics of charging at 120V, but it's nothing special. The Tesla kit is new for $400 total. 200 for the Mobile EVSE (backordered until Aug) and 200 for the NEMA Kit. You might get lucky on ebay.
I also have a J1227 Extension Cable for a really long reach. At some point I may get a J1772 End and cut off the Tesla end. I found a few youtube vids on that.
Kit with Telsa Tap shown Below
Charging Using NEMA 6-20 240V
Charging Using NEMA 14-30 (Typical Dryer Outlet)
Charging Using NEMA 14-50 (Max amps for Mobile Charger)
You'll notice the voltage dropping off as i use the higer amp adapters. I was using my 9500 watt inverter generator as my test bed. It really puts a beating on her when you get it up at the top end. ?
