I stopped at my first V4 Supercharger! What a pleasant surprise. The cord reach easily, and more importantly come out of the left side of the dispenser so there is plenty of room to reach and stay in your own stall! I have a 23 GT.

Is it an actual v4 or just a v3.5?

still nice and doesn’t matter much for us but just wondering 😅

The V4 superchargers look like that and the V3 and prior ones are hollow with the cable in the middle? Or is it not that simple?

Can confirm. V4 works great and no need for parking stall acrobatics. Nice bonus is that it’s got an integrated Magic Dock.
interestingly, not all of them are dispensing the Magic Dock adapters. the brand spanking new on in oregon at the 97/138 intersection (with nice pull through stalls) is NACS only. it looks like they aren't putting payment terminal in either - probably only where they are required like a NEVI site.

v4 dispensers look like that. v3 and v2 dispensers have the open middle with cable in it. v2 cables have a silver band at the base of the handle and is the easiest visual indicator in person.

the distinction folks are making about "v3.5" is the current situation where tesla is installing v4 dispensers with the same old v3 charging cabinet hardware. the v3 charging cabinets are limited to 500V/500A for a 250kW delivery. the v4 cabinets are expected to be 1000V/500A but do not appear to be real yet.

I used a new V4 Supercharge near me in Peabody MA last week. Plugshare still shows it as not officially open, and Tesla only, but the Tesla app shows it open. The Tesla app says a NACS adapter is required, so it must not have MagicDock. They setup the site so EVs can charge from the front or the back of the dispenser.

The only problem I had was the dispensers not being marked and my plug & play did not work. I did finally figure it out, 1A is near the transformers and 3C is the handicap stall near the hotel.

Is your adapter the official one received from Ford or from a third party like A2Z Typhoon?

That just means it's a v4 dispenser, not necessarily a v4 cabinet. The difference doesn't really matter much for Ford vehicles, but as the owner of a Kia, the v4 cabinets will make a huge difference for me.
Noted, but most drivers are not worried about the cabinet vs dispenser difference. Most of us are just concerned that it has the longer cable, on the left of the dispenser, and an integrated magic dock.

For Ford drivers, that's true. You don't really need to care about the cabinet. (Yes, I know this is a Ford forum) But for me, it will mean the difference between charging at 85kW and 215kW, so I'm really hoping to see v4 cabinets roll out soon.

Sadly, here in SoCal, Tesla cars are abundant. I say sadly because that means SoCal was an early adopter of EVs and, as such, has early models of Tesla adapters. I literally have more than 100 Tesla super charger stalls within 5 miles of my house that are not compatible and probably never will be. I have to drive 10 miles or more to find one that I can use.
