Weird Safety Recall package came yesterday

Yesterday I got a UPS package from Ford that contained the attached letter. I came with a replacement for the mobile phone charging pad, 30,000 Ford Pass Rewards points, and a gift card. I googled the recall number and it seems to be related to the battery but I am wondering why the heck are they giving me a new charging matt? My old one was fine. What a weird gift.

Has anyone else gotten this and does anyone have any more information on what this is al about?

We are all getting this... all who are affected by the HV battery contactor recall. It's Ford's goodwill gesture.

It makes the phone easier to align to the coils. There's no difference in charging speed once they are aligned. My new phone is a little narrower than my old phone and it is easy to miss the little alignment tab on the back left of the old mat. Old phone, no problems charging, new phone is about 50% with the old mat until I reposition the phone. It works every time with the new mat.

I had this recall performed in late January. The dealer did not advise of any "small tokens" that I should expect nor did I receive a follow up letter. I'm not as concerned about receiving the materials as I am about the ongoing inconsistencies with general communication between FOMOCO and myself. I get vastly more information about my vehicle on this forum than I apparently will ever get from the manufacturer or dealer.
#SMH......

UPDATE: 5/15/24 I received the charging mat and letter in the postal mail today.

Not everyone, the reason I couldn’t pick up my car from the dealer in the beginning was of that recall, and what ended up happening was my car didn’t have to recall, a previous customer had a recall, so since my car been sitting on the lot, they borrowed a part and then they put the new part on mine when it came in, called them out on it. My VIN was not under the recall.

I can't tell the difference between the old phone mat and the new one. I stored the new mat away with some of the leftover frunk divider parts and the carpet floor mats which came with my '21.

Much better alignment of phone with new mat. Charges everytime now. Before was hit or miss

Well, at least the 28 days the Premium AWD SR sat at the Canadian dealer waiting on parts for the HVJB recall didn't go for nothing.

The charging mat is a little different and with the cell phone cradle form factor and is easy to swap out. It allows the cell phone to cradle over the charging magnet. I have swapped mine out. I had a 2023 matt and I seem to have a more consistent charging experience, if you don’t like it, don’t use it.
