the dealer never feels guilty selling up charges to people so I wouldn't sweat it

I have a premium on order, but considering a FE. From what I learned some dealers are charging ADM from as much as 5-10K with the cars on their lots. I guess I will be keeping my order.
I’m in PA. the MME I test drove at our local dealership had an ADM of $10k! I will wait.

ADM is supposed to stand for "Additional Dealer Markup" but I think when it's that high the A stands for something different that I can't say in polite company that starts with ass and ends with hole and has nothing in the middle.

I bought mine off the lot as someone did not purchase. Still have my order in process, who knows, may end up with twins. If not I have no worry the dealer will have any trouble selling my car.

Anybody had luck actually cancelling the order? I'd placed an order, but found and purchased thru another dealership. I called the dealership where the OG order was placed, and they told me to call Ford. I called Ford and they told me to call the dealership - begin infinity loop... ?

I want the 500 smackers back to buy baby a new set of floor mats. ?

I'm in the same boat. I found pretty much the same as mine about an hour away (same color premium AWD extended, except no all-weather mats). I ended up waiting because I have a good relationship with the dealer and bought several cars in the past from him. But I did call him with the trade-in offer from the other dealership and he agreed to match it. Although I also already have a vehicle in transit. I've waited this long, I can wait another month... but if I still didn't have a built car I might have a different opinion.

This was also a potential concern. I didn't want to have to go through the hassle of having to potentially fight over getting my deposit back. After the order was confirmed, my understanding is the deposit goes to the dealership and dealerships were not required to make that deposit refundable.

I did a new order and changed dealers. It took about two weeks but I did get the $500 back from the old dealer. There is a procedure that they had to work with Ford corp. with to put the deposit back in my CC.

I had the opportunity to jump forward in line but I held off in part because the VIN [assuming they are assigned generally sequentially] was more than 6,000 earlier. My thought was they might have learned a few things in Cuautitlán between 3 and 9 thousand. Time will tell.

I was talking with my dealer (post-sale) and he mentioned that Ford is holding the dealerships "responsible" in some way for the number of reservations/orders that get closed with the original reservation holder. It sounded like a formal reporting process and he's concerned about the number of people backing out because of this, regardless of whether they can sell them immediately to someone else.

Maybe one of the Ford folks can confirm whether this is actually a factor.
I heard the same thing. Ford has part of the blame for this with their unfair scheduling process and lack of communication and shouldn’t blame the dealers exclusively. I've personally tried to do this three times but wanted X-Plan pricing and was refused on all three. Two wanted MSRP and one MSRP plus a $5,000 ADM. Yes, I would have felt guilty because the GM at the dealer I have my Mach E on order with is a nice guy and the son-in-law of my neighbor who referred me to him. My wife had a fit when she heard what I was trying to do the first time so I didn't say anything about the other two because I knew my chances of X-Plan pricing were very slim.

The cars are not being produced sequentially; they may be down the road.

I would do whichever makes you happy. Just make sure you commit and purchase the new one before canceling your original =

Talk about a dealer trying to lay the guilt trip. My original dealer has been doing this over and over since I canceled my order. The car came in the way I didn't want it, and if I'm spending $60K on a vehicle, it better damn well be the way I want it. I went elsewhere to buy it. I called them today after getting the runaround tonight about my deposit refund. No one has said I won't get it, but I'm not getting it so far. Called the GM of the dealership and he proceeds to tell me that he will not 'allow' anyone to buy either of my originally ordered vehicles to anyone that has an order elsewhere, because they don't want to subject another dealership elsewhere to what I did to them. Puhleeze! Really? I questioned why they're not advertising their ADM on their website, when I clearly saw they were each marked up $10K on the lot, and he proceeded to lie and say they weren't. My wife and I both saw the markup in the window of each car. Clearly a bait and switch to get people in. They're in no rush to sell and are holding out for the highest bidder, all the while holding on to my deposit until one or both are off their hands. So @Illinibird, don't count on ever getting a call back from them.

I had a Premium order in, not scheduled for production until June. I was able to pick up a FE from a lot last month.

I talked to the dealer I ordered from and told him what happened - he had no issue cancelling as he admitted they know they are in high demand. Told me they updated the notes on my order and deliberately are going to keep the order open so they can have an extra one in to sell.

I did ask for a refund on my 1k deposit, and they had no problem with that.. but it's been a few weeks now.. think I am going to have to chase some people down soon.
