Inside EVs has posted a story about the first V4 stations being open, and it looks like there is a lot more slack in the cable and the connection point to the charger is in the middle of the space - so charging non-teslas might be much more practical assuming they can add a magic dock to the V4s here in the US:

What I see isn't encouraging.

Looks like they are positioned so the cable attachment point is centered in the spot. This should allow everyone to use the "correct" spot, but I'm still concerned that the cables might not be long enough. When using the "wrong" spot with V3s, we have to pull all the way forward so our front bumper is next to or positioned past the supercharger. Moving the charger to the center of the spot means we have to move back one foot to avoid hitting it, and now it's moved 4-5 feet to the right of the V3 position. So the cables would have to be at least 6 feet longer to compensate for the position change. However they are only 4 feet longer.

So, V4 might actually be worse to use as a Mach-E than a V3 in the opposite spot.

Anybody in the Netherlands want to go there and just see if the cable reaches?!

EDIT - I just measured, the cable length for the V4 dispenser position needs to be at least 10 feet long to reach my charge port. Any shorter and the cable will have to bend sharply at the end, putting strain on the cable and charge port. A shorter cable will also be touching the left headlight while in use (scratch concern). The new V4 cables are just under 10' long. So it's looking like another Cablegate issue here unless we park with the right tires on the white line.

This will be the situation (early EA station with short 10' cable). Imagine it's a Mach-E with a 1-2 foot longer hood (so you won't be able to pull much closer than this):

Not sure why it's so hard for Tesla to just make a 12 foot cable, that's really the bare minimum needed to comfortably reach most EVs.

Dang you mean there are car companies that notice something is wrong and quickly try to fix it? Must be nice...

Also interesting to see the V4 spec label. Rated for 615A continuous and 1000V, which should change almost anything nicely. That's the highest amp rated CCS cable I've ever seen. However that installation still seems to be using the V3 power supply cabinets which only supports up to 500V. So they are V4 dispensers hooked up to V3 cabinets. Full potential won't be realized until there is a new install with 1000V power supplies.

Gila Bend is looking promising. 4 of these but about 12 on the other side of the parking lot in standard back in config. ‘250kw’ signs on those.
