Cheap way to boost the total HP number for marketing, battery will be dead in less than 30 seconds during a pull. Sort of like how the 5 second rule was devised to post a good 0-60 time on the GTPE.

I think SAE horsepower testing standards need to be revised for electric and hybrid powertrains to define peak horsepower as an average over 10 seconds so these marketing games are over.

Hahaha!

But at least it can fully regeneratively charge in 50 seconds too...until the battery is burned out.

Similar in practice to how the F150 powerboost works, but it has a 1.5kWh batt whose SOC is limited to 43%-72% at most. I'd bet the e-ray has a similar limitation. Converts the accessories over to HVDC essentially creating a full hybrid. Has anyone seen the specifics regarding the e-ray's drivetrain details (the specifics like diagrams, not its numbers).

The batteries are designed to have really high C rates, walling off the upper and lower bounds with excellent cooling.

Yeah the 1.9kw is just a buffer that gets regenerated very quickly via the 495hp V8 generator in the middle of the car. This will significantly improve the launch and provide a boost at full throttle or other power mapping used to improve overall lap times etc. It’s a fantastic idea and they’ve used a similar hybrid system in F1 cars for years.

What are the means of power for the battery itself? Given the manner in which hybrids regen, I'd be surprised it's got anything over 7kW, if that. The front motor can siphon power while driving. Possibly a hybrid starter/generator in place of the alternator. It's always interesting to see the means in which each company chooses to go about its methods.
