If you’re talking about the federal tax credit, you don’t need any letter. My Mach E just arrived at the dealer. What does the certification letter for the EV credit need to state?
Thank you, I was reading online and it said I needed some certification letter. Ford and the dealer are clueless. If you’re talking about the federal tax credit, you don’t need any letter.

That just means that Ford has certified to the IRS that your vehicle meets the requirements. They “should” be able to provide you with proof of that, but it’s by no means necessary. The IRS knows that the vehicle qualifies. This is what I’m looking for. It’s right out of the IRS document. But, I’m assuming some of you got the credit without this letter?

Or any other tax software. What you need is turbotax, when it asks you if you have purchased an electric vehicle click yes
Incorrect. The list is valid TODAY. Do you think a 2012 Ford Focus is being bought new in 2023? First Ford on the list. You don't need the letter. Here's the list of certified cars: https://www.irs.gov/businesses/irc-30d-new-qualified-plug-in-electric-drive-motor-vehicle-credit
Here's Ford's list:
Edit: Nevermind, this list is pointless. This is only for purchases that happen after 1/1/2023
