Ever since choosing my 2021 MME Ext AWD, I haven't stayed super up to date on the competition. I'm just curious - what do you think is the closest competitor to the MME that is at least reasonably apples-to-apples in terms of price, size, and range? In other words, don't come at me with a Model 3/S/X (totally different sizes, prices) or a Caddy / Porche (price) etc.

I'm basically aware of 5 mid-size SUVs currently on the market that could be considered direct competitors: the VW ID.4, Audi Q4 e-tron, Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5, and Tesla Model Y. Any others?

Which one do you think is the strongest alternative to the Mach E and why?

I will have to vote for the I5 or EV6 as the strongest competitor. Model Y is close too.

Before it was discontinued, I think the SR Model Y would have been the strongest competitor for range, speed and looks. Now it's priced out (esp with the tax credit) and definitely isn't worth $20k+ more.

Think the strongest competitors now are ev6 and ioniq 5 but they're both way too polarizing on looks. The VWs/Audis seem to have way too many problems and are way too slow for an EV.

I just looked - $83,000 for a model Y? That’s stupid. And definitely not competitive with a Mustang Mach E Premium AWD, unless you’re tripping acid. Even if you pull off the “FSD”, it’s still $68,000! Not competitive pricing for the feature set.

EV6 or Model Y.

Both are sporty crossovers.

BMW iX50 is creeping up
Maaaaaybe the BMW is somewhat apples-to-apples with the GT trim? Seems nice but too pricey to really be considered within MME's weight class.

Yeah, based upon what I'm reading, the closest competitors really seem to be the Hyundai I5 and Kia EV6. The cheaper VW ID4 just cuts too many corners. The MY lines up closely on spec but it's a stretch to say it's at the same price point as the MME without the tax credit.

I think the I5 and EV6 are both a bit cheaper than the MME and they spec out pretty close, but the exterior styling and interior screens are, in my opinion, woof compared to the MME. It's pleasantly surprising to me that here we are headed into 2023 and there really doesn't seem to be a better EV crossover at this price point than my 2021 MME. If anyone disagrees, I'd be curious to know why.

Maybe a Model 3 if not an EV6.

I spec'd a Model 3 for $48k that would be acceptable if my MachE get damaged in transit. Then I just decided I would be better off just ordering a 23 MachE in Space White and waiting.

The goal for me is keep it under $50k. Crazy.,

The category leader by sales of course……. Model Y.

No other “competitor” is even remotely close in terms of sales.

here in Germany we have several auto shows on TV, they contain tests combustion on one and EV on the other side.
For EV we currently have the following ranking
1. Mercedes EQS
2. Ford Mach E and Porsche Marcan
3. BMW ix3
4. Polestar 2
5. Tesla Model 3
6. Fiat 500
7. e.tron...

this ranking is based on the tests they guy performs. They test the EVs the same way, range, OEM promisess, features, ...

here the ranking at the time they tested the MME

I'd go with the EV6 right now. My definition of "competition" is what I'd buy if there was no Mach-E. In that case, I'd likely be driving an EV6

competitor can be seen from different angles
body size, I am 6.5 so there is no way to drive a Fiat 500
financially, do I have small or big budget
test driving, this what I did, wrote down all the must have and then called thes dealers to organize a test drive.

in the end for me there were 2 EVs left, KIA EV6 and the MME, then my minister of finance gave me the OK to order the pony.
Today it arrived in Antwerp , Belgium, another 4 weeks to go until I have it in my garage. marry X-Mas. :D

@MellowJohnny
I know the test is in German, sorry for not having an English version.
