I can't find it in the manual. I tried coins but they flop around.

That's for the physical key fob - I believe you can put it in there and the car will recognize it to drive, if for some reason it doesn't in your pocket. There might be a few other reasons.

It used to program a "MyKey". The single physical key that came with your car is programmed as an Admin key ... it can do anything.

If, for example, you had a 16 year old who wants to drive the car, you can get a new key fob and use that slot to program it as a MyKey. You control the rules ... what driving mode gets used, max speed, how loud they can crank up the sound system, etc. Basically MyKey lets you de-spec the car to something a bit more tame.

IMPORTANT: NEVER program your last remaining Admin key as a MyKey ... or you have no way to unlock the MyKey and return it to Admin key status.

Most Fords have this slot. It is for when the key fob battery gets low. It is placed here close to the receiver for the fob. Some other vehicles are in the glove box, all over the place

Looks like the slot in my fusion energi phev, If fob battery is dead, the car will recognize the fob if it’s placed there to start the car.

Are you supposed to put the key fob there to do the PAAK setup?

If your Key FOB battery dies, you place it in that slot to operate the vehicle so car can see the fob with NFC. This is particularly important if you don't have a start pass code setup as a backup.

Also used for FOB programming, such as setting up a MyKey.
