Would it be a bad choice to order one that has more amp that isn’t ford brand ?? And as for the different charging stations what adapters do I exactly need ? I know there’s Tesla stations, level 2, 3? I need help my brain is fried reading through all these forums and understanding it all . Your help is greatly appreciated !

I've made a few video that might help...some of this info is a little out of date (note the dates of upload), but should help bring you up to speed. I have a bunch of other videos on my channel if you're bored...

Ford makes 3 charging stations.

Ford Mobile Charger, which MAY have come with your vehicle, is 32 amps. It plugs into a 14-50 outlet, and may, or may not, survive daily usage.

The Ford Connected Charge Station is a 48amp hardwired solution. This is the max amperage that your vehicle can charge at.

The Ford Charge Station Pro is an 80amp hardwired solution, and would be a waste of money for a Mach-E.

If you wanted to buy a 48amp charger, I would NOT buy the Ford charger. I would buy either the Grizzl-E, the Tesla Universal, or the Emporia. https://amzn.to/3Oenccw

When charging outside your home, you can use any J-1772 level 2 charger or CCS high speed charger. To use a Tesla SuperCharger you need an adapter (except the few that are equipped with Magic Docks), and to use a Tesla Destination charger (like at a hotel) you need a Tesla Destination charger adapter.

A2ZEV makes the Typhoon Pro adapter for Tesla SuperChargers. It sells for $189.00 ($170.10 after using code FORDFORUM). They also sell the Stellar adapter, which is for Tesla Destination chargers (such as hotels, private homes). It sells for $108. If you pick use the dropdown menu on the Typhoon Pro page to pick the Stellar adapter also, the combined price is $270.00 ($243.00 with code FORDFORUM). In other words, it’s only $72.90 more for the destination charging adapter. They are currently shipping quickly. I have both adapters and have used both many times. They work great. https://a2zevshop.com/products/nacs-ccs1?ref=Typhoon&variant=43186507579592

Did you take advantage of the Ford program where they installed their EVSE for free, or did you pay for the Ford Mobile Charger (FMC)? The FMC is an occasional use unit. Many have had problems with using it in elevated temperatures on a daily basis. Mine is sitting in my Family Room and I have a Tesla Mobile instead (partially because it can be de-rated to 24A for use at a place that only has 30A outlets). This of course requires a Tesla to J1772 adapter for my MME. 😊🐩

Anyhow, look up Tom Muloughney’s State of Charge video series. He rates and ranks almost every EV home station out there. 😁🐩

Another home charger option is through the company Lectron. I had the home charging station mounted on the outside of my home 2 years ago which has worked flawlessly. The one I have is the original model that does not have an app to monitor charging, but that does not matter due to monotoring by the Ford Pass app. There is a newer model with a wifi app. I use the Tesla to J1722 adaptor when I charge at my brother's home at which he has a Tesla charger installed for his Tesla. Right now they have an offer for the Tesla adaptor and Tesla supercharger. I have never used a Tesla supercharger as I was promosed a complimentary Ford Tesla supercharger that I received last week. Lectron often offers 5-10% promotions.

Oh, if you live in New York or a similar state with EV charging incentives, you may want a Chargepoint unit (NY) or a unit that communicates with the utility company (Con Edison/Orange & Rockland here). This past February and March, my charging data was shared with the utility company ($50 earned), but the Ford Pass connection was terminated because Ford "does not communicate with third parties." Consequently, not only did I miss out on monthly incentives, but also deep off-peak summer incentives totaling over $200 worth of time based charging incentives.😡 According to Ford and the utility company, they are working on a solution. 🫤😖. I attached photos of the charging adaptors and chargers referred to in this reply.

Good luck.

If you plan to charge at home, you'll wanna understand your current panel status before doing anything. Consider a trusted electrician familiar with EV requirements for some guidance. There are MANY variables that will determine your next steps. The adapter question is covered well by previous posts.
