What's going on with NACS charging adapters never shipping?

At the risk of atttracting responses from those who haven’t been laid this year yet, I just received my Ford NACS to J adapter…. Out of the blue, about a week ago, I got an email informing it was shipped, I signed up early last year (sorry guys, exact date unknown).. The day before the email, i requested my call back A2Z. No shipping email on that yet.. So two of them in hand now.

I got my notification today that order 69060 had shipped. 10 months to the day. Of course I’ve been using my A2Z typhoon all this time so it hasn’t been a problem.

1. They’re built by Tesla in Buffalo, NY. They build other stuff there as well, adapters is not their primary focus atm at the Buffalo Gigafactory.

2. GM, Rivian, and KIA (iirc) are all in line with Ford. They can only build so many.

3. Ford ships when they receive a batch. They ship in the same order as the reservation was made. Unless you live in Canada, then you get to complain,

4. There was a recall by Tesla of many adapters shipped in June. They got to cut to the head of the line.

5. There are third party alternatives that are available now. If you need one, order it assp,. A2Z is shipping their orders out fast as I recall. Perhaps Lectron as well.

The Tesla manufactured adapters are made at the Buffalo NY Gigafactory. Where Lectron has theirs made was not an issue at the time I wrote that response as they weren’t supplying adapters to Ford yet.

That’s a good thing indeed. The Lectron adapters must be arriving en masse now. The advantage of dealing with a company that specializes in adapters is apparent instead of relying solely on one that manufactures PowerWalls and solar shingles at their factory with adapters wedged in.

I ordered mine soon after I got my GTPE in March 2024. I just got it this morning. My order number was in the 61900 range.

so it sounds like they're getting close to halfway filling the outstanding orders which I believe was around 140k.

I was part of those that requested our adapters when Ford extended the deadline September. My number is 150xxx. I am happy to see the progress.

So are you saying that Lectron may be making the Ford labeled adapters that say “China”? Or just speculating?

Argh... yeah, the instructions and the label were in there! I peeked in when it first arrived, but "white on white," I missed it! Thanks for the heads up and quick reply!

I dropped off my old adapter today at fedex. The replacement is so much larger than the one I got in June

If your adapter says Ford on it, it is a Lectron-made adapter. The Tesla-made ones do not. The Tesla-made adapters are also more compact than the Lectron ones. They aren't the same design.

I didn't realize they were a different size, I got the tesla one, it was recalled and got another tesla one.
