I do wish that the puddle lights would work like they did in the rendering video you can see on Ford's site. It shows them on, with the mirrors folded out. It only turns them off when you do the doors open view.

This is a fictional rendition of pony lights.
They work fine as described below.
As with everything else, the PAAK/FordPass/Sync4 often interferes/prevents expected functioning.
We all hope PAAK/FordPass/Sync4 will someday work.

That yellow text is very difficult to read.
For those of you who had trouble reading my post, one more time in black ?

I recieved my new MME yesterday (weā€™re s a bit slow in Europe), but Iā€™ve been playing around with all the settings ever since.
one of them being the pony-puddle-light.
Iā€™ve read a lot of frustrated users who have problems making the lights appear, but if you follow the above mentioned steps, everything should work just fine BUT........
there is one major issue that could cause the pony not to appear and that is to much surrounding light(s)!!

The pony-puddle-lights ONLY show up if itā€™s dark enough, so even a simple driveway, or streetlight could cause the pony-light to ā€˜malfunctionā€™.

so if you still have problems, try it next time, in a dark place, and youā€™ll probabely be surprised with the result:
good luck!

Have had my premium for a week. My wife said she saw the pony once, but I never have until tonight. It is really episodic with seemingly no consistency to when or if it turns on, whether you have your phone or fob. I am taking it in to the dealer tomorrow for other sporadic connectivity issues, but I doubt they will have a fix.

We have a detached garage, so when we enter the lights are always off. I would say 90% of the time with the fob, and maybe 75% with the Paak, the pony lights are on. Rarely do they work when your trying to show them off... but if I go out to put the waste cans out and ignore it, they want to turn on every time I go back in for the next bin.

Ford seems to have it figured out on the ICE Mustang. Not sure why they couldn't make the transfer to the MME.

Took my car into a dealership yesterday for a myriad of connection issues and they kept it overnight. As expected, they actually fixed nothing and had the repair guy, two electrical techs and and ford spokeshole all standing there trying to explain to me why nothing worked, why it was not ford's fault, how it is google and androids fault, how its my new samsung galaxy 21s fault, how its a new car and they have little experience with it and every possible doublespeak non answer for any question I had. Finally seeing I was getting absolutely nowhere, I shook my head and left with no answers, no fix for any issues and an apology from the spokeshole that I was not happy with their lack of competent service.

Week one with the grabber blue FE. Love the car. One day one the puddle lights worked, lit up as I approached the car. They have not not worked since. I checked the settings and the welcome lighting is toggled on. Any thoughts?
There's a setting for easy entry/exit. You might want to check that it is still set for on.

That is one shy pony!
Maybe tape off the sensors, so no light gets registered? Anyone who knows where the sensor is?

It's not that the ponies will be suppressed if too much light is present, it's that they are not very bright so if there is too much ambient light the ponies will be too dim to see. Most of the time I can't see them before sunset.

Exactly; if you put your hand under the mirror, you can see they're on but just not bright enough to be seen on the ground.

I noticed last week the car didn't "wake up" when I walked up to it, and I was pretty sure I hadn't changed any settings. This was the day after charging at home. Later I noticed on the FP app that the battery was red, and there was a notification saying something like the car had gone to sleep and I needed to start it to begin seeing status updates (on the app) again. (Note; I'm almost certain I had open the driver's doors to do something, but never pressed Start). I proceeded to do that, and when I checked later everything was working again.

They aren't all that bright on the ICE Mustang either. My profile pic is me casting a shadow so the streetlight wouldn't over power the pony light.

My welcome lights and pony projection have never once worked while in my garage. They both work every time when I am not in my garage. (I check for the pony when it is light out by putting my hand under the mirror)

I do have the auto fold turned on for the mirrors
I just use my phone as key and walk away and the car beeps (I never hit the lock button)
I have tried using the FOB and that does not seem to work in my garage either.
I even tried talking a walk (about a mile) and took my FOB and phone with me to see if they were just stored to close to the garage since it is attached but that didn't work either.
As many times as I go in and out of my garage it is probably good that they don't constantly come on but it was a bit of a disappointment. Like I said, it always works away from the garage though.

I wonder if they're tied to a light sensor too. In the dealer's service bay they didn't work, I actually didn't know the car had them until last night when I came out to the car in a parking lot and saw them on.
I think so. From my anecdotal evidence, they come when it is dark enough that the auto headlights would also come on when operating the vehicle. When it's lighter, they do not appear to come on. Also, I've noticed that if I walk away (lock) and return within a short amount of time, they do not light. If I've "left" for a while, they come back on (when it's dark enough). It's probably also (minorly) a battery saving function to not turn on "unnecessary" lights when it's bright out or repeatedly if you're just walking by a bunch and not actually "approaching" the vehicle after being away?

When it's on, it's bright. Only ever seen them once down the shore, and once charging on a Tesla charger in a fairly well lit garage.

Enjoy finding patterns in dull kernel and process traces on systems, but still have yet to find out how to get the Pony to light up with any consistency, even in darkness it doesn't seem to come on.

Maybe OTA 2022 update. There's more important things, just was a cool thing to see.. then see a few months later.
