Where does scheduling occur?

Lots and lots of posts on scheduling here, but have not seen any info on the actual location of scheduling for production. Always thought of scheduling as happening in some hidden office complex in Dearborn, but the recent call from my dealer telling me our order was "sent to the plant for production scheduling" has me thinking maybe the actual scheduling is a decentralized activity which is done at the plant site.

I’m curious about this as well…and how do the mods here always know when there will be scheduling done and when the plant will be idle?

I have no idea where the people reside that do scheduling, and it's irrelevant. The plants provide input, and scheduling is done for each plant. Ford has let a huge majority of workers stay remote, many forever, so whether the person is in Canada, Oklahoma, Mexico, or downtown London is immaterial.

The question was asked as to where the moderators gain this knowledge, and I provided a link.
