To be fair, that's always been the case. First year cars are are almost always less reliable than final year cars.This is one reason that I try to avoid the first year of any new car.
In today’s market, companies rush to put things out and have customers do their quality assurance for them by reporting bugs. I hate that practice and complain about it all the time at work when we do it. It’s because there is always a large number of competitors coming out with competing products and can corner the market.
You generally shouldn't buy a first year unless you want to be noticed. Having the car before others is a huge draw for first year models. That said, I don't practice what I preach... I've owned a few first year models, but you have to expect some issues
