I've noticed that opening the frunk immediately kills remote start. Is there any good reason for this?

That kind of functionality makes perfect sense for an ice vehicle, given there's an engine in there. But I can't think of any reason to do that with a storage bin.

So what do you think? Is there a valid reason for this? Or is this just a useless carryover from ICE programming

Legacy ICE programming. That is what happens when ICE manufactures make an EV?

Also a point of curiosity, does this also happen to vehicles that have electronic frunk release? Or is this only applicable on the cars that don't have the electronic frunk enabled?

I'm sure it's a carryover, but they also don't want you to drive with a released frunk that isn't open, especially when there is no safety catch. Guess you could go to Start and then it would cutoff for safety.

That's what I thought too, but if you try to drive with the frunk open the car gets very mad about it.

At least it doesn't turn off when you open a door like my wife's Toyota.
My gosh. Can Toyota get ANYTHING about remote start right?

Try leaving the frunk open while remote starting. I have to assume it's so you can't drive with an open frunk.

Not so long ago cars didn't care if the hood was ajar, couldn't detect it.

Guarantee it won't even remote start with it open.

This is a security feature. It keeps someone from getting into a running car - a hold over from ICE's killing people in closed garages.

If someone opens a door while a car's running, I wouldn't mind the car closing down.

Not a thing. Don't even get me started on the fact that the heated seat and steering wheel won't come on during a remote start. I think a lot of MME owners don't realize how good we have it.

In my opinion, that behavior on an ice vehicle has nothing to do with security or driving with the hood open. You have to get in with a key and the car will yell at you the whole time if you try to do that without remote start anyway.

My personal opinion is it's to prevent someone from getting injured by the engine starting. Since you can theoretically start the car without seeing it, it's possible that someone could be doing something under the hoods and be caught by surprise when the engine suddenly starts

It's not a jar, it's a hood. Getting sick of all these bugs...

Oh, wait, there's no space there. Ok, carry on.
