Here's a pet peeve of mine. Look at the two temperatures in the screenshot. This is Android Auto. The tiny temperature in the upper right is the correct temperature. The LARGE one on the bottom left is incorrect. While it's not dramatic in the photo, sometimes it's a big difference. Yesterday I was in the San Fernando Valley and the small one said 89 degrees and the bottom left one said 67. I was outside and I can tell you for sure that it was 89. Whats more the bottom left showed that the day's high would be 72 and the low 51. Clearly just wrong.

Look at the AC setting. I had it turned down to 68 because it was friggin' hot out!

Even more confusing is that if I ask Google for the weather it comes up with a third temp not matching either of the ones on the display. This implies that the bottom left temp isn't coming from Google.

The car is now being ridiculed by my passengers for its blatant inaccuracies. I wish there was a way to turn the bottom temp screen completely off. I'd rather have no information instead of wrong information.

Not an Android Auto user, but if my passengers ridiculed my car they wouldn't be in it... Just saying.

In theory the top right should be more accurate than the bottom left.

The top right is measured by the car at the cars position.

The bottom left is measured at a weather station that might be miles away.

Looking at weather stations on wunderground.com in my area I see a station reporting 47 and one reporting 55 just a few miles away.

I don't want maps full screen because I want the media information available. How would I go about removing the weather? I haven't been able to find that option.

With the Android Auto redesign (which you have) the weather card is only shown in portrait mode and isn't currently removable. That's progress!

I find the temperature measured by my car to be warm as well. Remember that true temperatures measured by weather statiosn are taken in the shade, while there are so many factors that make car temperature sensors read off - heat coming off the road, heat from sitting in the sun, and heat generated by the car can all impact the temperature reading. It's not that it's wrong, it's that it's ambient temperature isn't the same as the air temperature in the shade somewhere nearby.

I believe the car measures the ambient temperature coming from the road beneath it as that will directly affect the battery. I feel that I read that in the forum a while ago.

The top right temp is always higher (in the winter) when leaving the garage and adjusts as I drive.

As it's been said, Car Play and AA are dependant on you phone's weather app settings (location services, data refresh rates, etc.). I warn my occupants I have ejector seats and that Sheeba is touchy and could launch them with very little provocation.

True temperatures taken by a weather stations are in full sun. However, the temperature sensor is in a protected shroud with an aspirating fan running. Which is not the same as being in the shade.

You seem to be confusing where those different temperature readings come from. None of them are incorrect despite being different. As already started, your car's reading can be a little off due to sitting in the sun, but what you get from the android auto screen is data sent to your phone based on it's location from a nearby weather station. Google is likely giving you a less location specific reading, pulling whatever top result is for the town name you are located in.

The latter 2 will have a degree of inaccuracy to you based on distance, while the car might have some inaccuracy based local conditions, such as aforementioned sun hitting the sensor, heat radiating from the road surface, etc. This isn't anything new with car temperature sensors, pavement and lack of shade will increase the localized ambient temperature above what you'll get a short distance away off pavement and in shade.

Your friends are confused. The display at the top is the measurement the car is taking locally. The display at the bottom is coming from Android Auto. If they are ridiculing anything, they should be ridiculing the settings on your phone for the weather, since that information is coming from your phone, based on your location settings and weather app settings. No clue as to how to change those settings to more closely reflect your current location. Maybe your weather app was set to a place you were looking at for a trip? 🤷‍♂️🐩

I believe if you tap on the media panel, just above the horizontal line separating the control buttons from the current song text, that panel will take up the bottom half of the Android Auto screen. To return to the three panel display there will be an icon in the bottom left of AA that looks like the three panels. Like others have said the Google/AA temp is an approximation of temps in a regional area and not precisely localized. I don't believe that the panel values are updated very often; maybe twice a day (??).
TIP: Touch the weather panel in AA to get a regional weather report spoken out.

At home, I have a weather station with a wireless outdoor sensor that displays on an inside device. I also have a Google Home device that displays outside temp. These two items typically deviate by a handful of degrees or so on a regular basis.

This is correct and the best way for OP to not see Google's weather forecast.
