We don't actually know the total drive time. The way they arrived at the average speed was the Google predicted driving time and the total Km along the probable route iirc.

I can’t say how fast he was going, what the traffic was like, or how heavy the drivers foot was.

Maybe he was going 30mph stuck in weekend traffic, maybe he was going 20 mph over like everyone does in my area. Maybe he stopped two hours for dinner and changed on a free L2 while nobody was looking.
Only a standardized test will tell us anything. WLTP or EPA doesn’t matter. As long as we can compare it to other tests.

Nobody knows exactly how he drove the vehicle, of course, but let's be reasonable here.

It's reasonable to assume that he probably didn't drive over the speed limit. The Google Maps calculation puts that at about a 47 MPH average.

It's reasonable to assume that this wasn't just a big lie by stopping to recharge along the way.

Was it a controlled test monitored by 5 government officials and 8 media? No. It's one test by a Ford employee. He might have had all the climate control off. He might have been driving slower than 47 MPH, although probably not likely. Personally, I think it's reasonable to assume this was a valid real world example at ~47 MPH. That's the key part to me -- it's a good indication of medium speed range. But still missing is the far more pertinent high speed result.
