Ben does a great job. He has owned a lot of teslas. Go to the 9:00 minute mark and watch what he says about the mache.
Basically, he likes the mache the best but is waiting on the EA network to catch up. Over and over we keep hearing this from so many reviewers how they love the mache over the model y. If EA can catch up and get the bugs worked out the mache will put a lot of pressure on tesla. Really like kyle said if don't need DC charing mache hands down. Come on EA get it done.

The seven seater Model Y: Useful for those times that you need to transport double amputees.

The problems with his model y to start no way would I drive that home. The hood and one-panel gap are massive. Here is another treat coming. My sister's model y is ready to pick up Friday so another 5 to 6-hour trip what fun to the tesla store. She was told they tesla plans on phasing out the loaner car program for uber credits in more areas this year.
The more competition you have the more tesla will have to tighten their belt with the credits getting less and less.

"I have no doubt if I find the issue, Tesla will fix it" that right there sums up the Tesla Delusion Factor (TDF [TM]). It's not the owner's job to find the issue. The owner of literally any other car in the world knows that.

edit: "I turned off HomeLink but taped this remote to the back to the screen because with two cars, it's too hard to work garage doors" wat

These reviewers really make the concern of fast charging infrastructure sound much bigger than it really is. 90% of these buyers have other cars in the family for really long road trips. A range of over 200 miles will cover 90% of somewhat longer trips. A lot (> 95%) of traveled miles in the family can be done by a 250 mile EV. Most n CA will buy these just for the HOV lane access.
This is assuming the charging infrastructure remains an issue, which is not the case as proven by Taycan winning the cannonball. So, I feel like they are blowing this way out of proportion.
Even Taycan was 50% slower than the gas car record. If I wanted to go somewhere far in a real hurry, I'd take a gas car or get a plug-in hybrid.

Disclaimer: All percents I used are my guesses. But I think they are quite reasonable, at least from my experience

Tesla asked to recall 158,000 cars for failing touchscreens

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has asked Tesla to recall some 158,000 Model S and Model X vehicles that could suffer from failing touchscreens, according to a letter published by the agency on Wednesday. The failures of the so-called “media control units” in these vehicles can sever the owner’s access to their vehicle’s backup camera, climate controls, and Tesla’s Autopilot driver assistance system, increasing the risk of a crash, the safety agency says.

The problem at the heart of the defect that NHTSA wants fixed involves worn-out flash memory chips used in the displays of 2012-2018 Model S sedans and 2016-2018 Model X SUVs. Each time an owner turns on one of these Teslas, it eats away at the total capacity of the the 8GB eMMC NAND flash memory chip onboard the NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor that powers the displays. When that capacity is reached, the displays become bricked, as Motherboard first reported in 2019.
NHTSA opened a formal investigation into the problem last June, and said Wednesday that the probe is still ongoing despite the request that Tesla recall the vehicles. It’s unclear if Tesla will comply. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment, as they have no PR department.

You have a big one coming soon for all model y models on the heat pump also. SIster goes to pick hers up Friday. They told her last week it's coming, Each model y will have to be fixed.
Oh my.

Wait .. the octo-thingy heat pump? But Design! Innovation! Cold! Heat! Range! Tesla! Say it isn't so!

Tesla's are fugly, I don't like proprietary, closed systems (Android over Apple all the way!), on that note the resistance to right to repair stuff is off putting, their charging network will get overtaken at some point, the quality issues, the Stan's, the driving force being one dude vs a bunch of seasoned, talented individuals at Ford. On that note, the Mach-e is gorgeous, I have faith in the consistent quality that Ford can produce, more expansive access for repairs/dealers etc, Android Auto, and the charging network will catch up eventually. Did I mention not fugly?

Tesla asked to recall 158,000 cars for failing touchscreens

crap I posted a new thread on this.

a few things here:
  • 100% a basic embedded system design failure. For all the talk around Tesla being good at software and being modern and so on, this is an idiotic failure on their part of the highest order. The one thing they are supposedly really good at, they actually... aren't good at. I've made this point elsewhere on here though back when we first talked about these failures.
  • As the story said, this is a recall demand, not a voluntary recall. That's a big, big deal. This is basically the regulatory agency saying "stop f*cking around and fix your broken crap, now!"
  • OTA is not saving their ass here.
  • This story at least doesn't even mention that the touchscreen failure takes the dash as well (this is S and X so there is a dash).

Off-topic, but I am surprised at the number of reviewers who mispronounce the first syllable of Tesla. It’s not pronounced like pez candy but with a ‘t’, instead sounds like the women’s name Tess.
