so some car wash used a marker to write "sticker" on the inside of the windshield to let the guy know to clean off the goo from the sticker on the right side inside of the windshield from the dealership. unfortunately the word "sticker" now appears in that place every time it gets cold. what the fuck is this and how can I fix it? did some stupid car wash marker strip a treatment from my windshield?

Same thing happens with actual stickers that are removed from inside windshields. Residue left behind changes how condensation forms. You can do the same with an oily finger and unless you use some thing like rubbing alcohol it will remain even after normal windshield cleaners are used. Just take care with any potential interior films etc and try regular glass cleaner first.

so alcohol or glass cleaner? what did the marker do exactly and will either solution remove the writing or just make the rest of the windshield like it?

Residue remains. It has to be cleaned off.

Put a sticker on something and let it bake in the sun. Peel it off. Touch the spot where it was, and it will be sticky. That sticky residue needs to be cleaned off with Goo-Gone or alcohol.

I suggest you first try applying some alcohol or an alcohol-based spray (50% alcohol, 50% water). But don't spray it directly on to the window as this will result in alcohol droplets landing on parts of the dash you don't want it on. Spray it into an applicator or microfiber towel and then apply it to the affected area.

If that doesn't work, I suggest next trying a magic eraser. Activate the magic eraser by placing it in some warm water. Then "scrub" the area with the magic eraser very thoroughly and dry with a clean microfiber towel. Then finish with a final application of a good quality glass cleaner and a glass microfiber towel (or newspaper, which works just as well).

The marker or pen left “something” on the windshield. It very well could be as simple as a dry erase marker. Clean it first with glass cleaner (don’t spray on the windshield, spray on a clean microfiber cloth or use a glass cleaning wipe). Use a rubbing alcohol mix (between 20% and 50% always test on a tiny area first looking for hazing etc if you have windshield film) then try goo gone if that doesn’t work. Goo gone can be a bit oily afterwards so do a final clean with rubbing alcohol once the goo gone is dry. If it’s just glass and no film you can get even crazier and use acetone or even xylene but don’t spill a drop on your dash. Just start simple, you may find glass cleaner does the job.

if you’re worried they were dumb enough to use a grease pen or something extreme (doesn’t sound like it) just spot clean it so as to not spread it around until you can tell if it’s removed.

Better yet, I bet if you bring it back to them they will clean it for you.
